Chapter 3

"So, what does Andrea Rodriguez do? I heard you're popular with guys?" Mrs. Reagan said.

I smiled even though I was forced to do that, I also needed to leave my friends just to sit with them and interrogate me.

I sighed, maybe my bad day wasn't done yet because I am sitting at the same table facing this annoying man. How am I supposed to enjoy my caramel latte? Argh!

"Andrea?" Mrs. Reagan called my name so I immediately turned to her and stopped drinking my latte.

"Y-yes?"

"Mrs. Reagan is talking to you, Andrea. Why are you so occupied?" My father said even if his voice was calm, I know deep inside him I am dead.

"A-ah, sorry. I just came back from vacation and I'm a little bit tired, so you know?" I laughed forcedly.

"Really? You love traveling?"

"Yes, indeed."

"Lovely! That was my son's hobby, he travels a lot but he's not around often. But I am sure you two will have a good relationship soon."

I spit out my latte because of what she said, while my father? He was glaring at me and I can see that from my peripheral vision. I am definitely dead when we get home.

I helped Mrs. Reagan from wiping the stain that clung into her beautiful dress. I can even see how annoyed she was, and that was a good start, right?

"No, iha. I'm fine, it's just a dress."

"But I ruined your beautiful purple dress, my father can pay for it. Name your price."

"Pardon?"

My father cleared his throat to get our attention because maybe I made a wrong move.

"Why don't we talk about the wedding? My daughter has a dream wedding, like a beach wedding. Maybe your son is interested in that kind of wedding?"

Our gaze landed on the man who was still silent after seeing his parents earlier. I don't know what's wrong with this guy but I don't care.

"My son is not picky, he can marry Andrea in every place she wants. We can set an early date for their wedding," Mr. Reagan replied.

"That's great, I'm going to call her mother as soon as possible."

"I'm not marrying her," Kalix abruptly said, he made our head turn to him because of that.

"Kalix! What are you talking about?"

"I'm not marrying her, dad," He repeated.

He's fighting his father's sharp gazes, I can't see any sign of fear in his eyes.

"I barely know that woman, and I'm not ready to have a family. I am just twenty three years old but you're tying me to this wedding. Don't you even want to ask me if I wanted to get married?"

"Because I know you don't. So, stop making a scene in front of Andrea's father."

"Right, I was making a scene again. I am the youngest entrepreneur in this city and you're son, how can you decide for myself?" Kalix reasoned.

"I'm a grown up man, dad. You shouldn't do it for me because I knew what I wanted and what decision to make."

"How can I marry an unrespectable girl? I have dreams and she is not included with the dreams I have."

Neither I, Kalix. I don't want this marriage so you did a great job.

"I think your son was right."

"Andrea!"

"What? He was right, dad, we couldn't marry each other because you want us to do that, I don't want to tie myself to a man I didn't love. Besides, we don't have a good meeting so that's enough to call this wedding off."

My reason is valid. He cannot send me to the wedding because he had enough of me, I'm not a good daughter and I know that.

"Why don't we call it a night?" Kalix's father said before standing up followed by his wife.

"Sure, we'll get in touch."

Mr. Reagan nodded, "Come on, Kalix."

They left the place as soon as Kalix stood up from his seat. Left me and my dad alone, I finished my caramel latte and about to leave our table when my father cleared his throat and I knew we're dealing with my disobedience.

"When did you wanna learn how to respect others? We're in front of Kalix's parents and I am wishing you to behave for once."

He glared at me, "How could you not behave yourself while talking to your fiance's parents and ruined Mrs. Reagan's dress!"

Here we go, he's starting to scold me again.

"What's the reason for this wedding anyway? You trick me, dad. You told me you're handing me my money yet I came with this unexpected wedding," I murmured.

"That man is a jerk. He didn't even pay for the damages he caused to my car."

"You meet him?" My father asked.

I rolled my eyes, "Yes, I do. We met an hour ago before you found us fighting, it's not my fault. He fed me with smoke coming from his motorcycle, so I'm not marrying that man even though he's the only man left in the world."

"Even so, you are still marrying that guy. No further questions."

That's all he said before leaving me quickly. I remained silent on my seat because my dad never stops invading my personal life, he always finds a way to annoy me.

Why did I do to deserve this? I am bad which is not new to me because everyone hates me, except for my friends.

"Don't be sad, Andy," Gaby hugged me.

I didn't feel their approach, maybe my mind is too occupied because one of these days, I'll become someone's wife.

"Gaby was right, Andrea. Don't be sad, we're here to stay on your side," Cassie uttered.

"Thank you," I sniff, they never leave me.

"Fathers are always against our freedoms, I have the same dad like yours. He once did that to me, but I did everything to stop my wedding to a man I didn't love," Maddy said.

"And I received the best gift in my life."

I envy Madeline. She was once tied to a wedding by her father but she slept with a man before her wedding came, she did that for almost a month not until her parents discovered she was pregnant with an unknown guy's baby.

That was unexpected but planned, so as the daughter of the Wang family and to save their reputation. Her parents call the wedding off, and keep her baby away from her.

Tragic, right?

"I wish I could do that," I uttered while wiping my nose.

"You can, babe. I can be your teacher if you want?" She grinds.

"Maddy! Stop encouraging her, we are supposed to ease her feelings, not teach her how to get pregnant to stop her wedding!" Cassie scolds her.

Madeline shrugged, "I am just giving her an option."

"That's not a good option," she looked at me, "Don't listen to Maddy, okay? We'll find a better way to stop your wedding but for now? I want you to smile for me because we have a party to catch."

"Yeah, Andy. Pull yourself together and let's party! Whooo!"

I chuckled before glancing at them one at a time, they always made me smile and have my back when the time was tough.

I'm going to find a way to get rid of my wedding, for now I have a party to catch.
