Chapter 34

The raucous sound of voices filled the air in the hall, Maya fought to listen to the story Kirsty was telling them but there were too many voices to make out all at once and too much background noise for her to try to get an idea of what the girl was saying.

She eyed the people strolling in and out of the hall in contempt, they were senior students who'd decided to 'lend' their hall for the afternoon since theirs had an issue with the conditioning.

Talk about American privilege.

"What?"

Maya blinked, snapping out of her reverie as the familiar voice spoke up beside her.

"What?" She repeated and the brunette chuckled, shaking her head fondly.

"You muttered something...about privileges?" Kirsty added, a small smile on her lips. Two other eyes were staring at her questioningly and she felt her cheeks burn,

She hadn't even realized she'd said it aloud, she mentally berated herself.
