CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

Scarlett’s POV

The woman's words echoed in my mind as I tried to make sense of what was happening. It was clear that we were in danger, but what could we do to protect ourselves? And how had I gotten myself into this mess in the first place?

As I looked at the woman, I saw a glimmer of determination in her eyes. Despite the fear that must have been coursing through her veins, she seemed resolute and focused, as if she had a plan.

"What's your name?" I asked, trying to make a connection with her and ask her for her name for the very first time.

"Emily," she replied, her voice soft but firm.

"Well, Emily, what do we do now?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

"We wait," she said, her gaze locked on the trees around us. "And we plan our next move."

I nodded, unsure of what else to say. My mind was racing with thoughts of escape and survival, but I knew that I had to stay calm if we were going to make it out of this alive.
