Arielle’s POV

Hearing those words from Richard caused a kind of tremor within me.

Leon.

Leon and his Rogues had been circling our borders? The borders of the Redding Pack?

All this time, he had been near.

I wasn’t stupid; it didn’t take long to connect the dots as Richard kept on talking.

Devin’s attack had to be related to Leon’s Rogue group being at the Redding Pack borders.

He had likely been the one to attack Devin. Or at least, he had definitely given the orders.

I don’t know what came over me then; all of a sudden, the thought of Leon coming for me was a threat. My knees felt so weak, and my heart began to beat faster and faster as I tried to breathe calmly. I was deaf to the rest of the things that Richard was saying, as everything faded to the background.

Oh great moon goddess, I thought desperately, my throat feeling clawed up from the inside.

I didn’t know when I fell.

But what I knew was that as my legs failed me, I felt like someone had caught me.

Richard had caught me.
