Chapter 22

EVA'S POV

I was so heartbroken when I got home that evening. Remember that I had just come back from seeing an old witch with Tara, who I had thought was my true friend. However, the witch had just told me that she was a friend paid for by my father. That darn old man that wouldn't just leave me alone to take care of things myself – he's always treating me like I'm a kid, like a little girl with no brain to think. I felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest for a second time. First, it was Adrian now this, Tara, damn, I'm so unfortunate. Tara acted so nice to me – I couldn't believe that she would be able to deceive me like that.

As I walked through the grand entrance of the mansion, I could feel the hot tears streaming down my face. I didn't want to face anyone or talk to anyone, I just wanted to be alone – that's why I snubbed my father and walked past him.
