Chapter 8

**Scarlett’s POV**

I woke up with a start, I tried to sit up but I discovered I couldn’t do it properly. The events of the past night played in my head and I couldn’t help but feel intense loathing for the man that had inflicted me with so much pain.

I looked around me quickly to discover I was still in the Alpha’s bedroom; and in slight fear, I hastily threw on my clothes and scurried out of the room. By the time I arrived in my own little room at the pack house, it was already way past seven and I was already late to work- again!

Quickly taking a shower, I wore one of the clothes that had been brought to me the previous day and practically sprinted out of my room, to the Alpha’s office.

“Good morning!” I greeted the girl from yesterday exasperatedly as I ran into her by the doorstep. She smiled a soft smile at me while holding me up.

“Good morning! Why’re you in such a hurry?” She asked. I wanted to slap her for asking such a thing, but I let it slide. I didn’t want to go around creating enemies for myself.

“I’m late!” I rushed out. She nodded understandingly at me, threw her signature smile my way, and pulled me down the corridor, to my office.

“I got you the typewriter.” She said with a smile, “and over there is a semi detachable milk frother, for making hot chocolates,” a pause, then looking intently at me, she continued, “boss likes a cup of hot chocolate every morning, and he’s instructed that you bring it to his office every morning.”

“Has he been given a cup this morning?” I asked, staring up at her who stood over my table.

“No, like I said earlier, it’s your job to give it to him every morning.” At her response, my heart beat accelerated. It was already a few minutes to nine o’clock and he had not gotten his cup of chocolate yet.

I couldn’t help but think about the kind of punishment he would make me go through for this tiny slip again. I hurriedly ran to the milk Frother or whatever she had called it, and quickly began to make a cup for the Alpha.

“You need to calm down—What’s your name?” The girl talked from behind me, but I was too busy to listen.

“I’m Emily.” I said quickly, focusing on the task at hand.

“Okay Emily, I’m Sandra, right now, you need to calm down, he doesn’t like too much cream in his milk…” at her words, I quickly stopped adding cream to the cup, “…he doesn’t like sugar either…” I quickly threw the bag of sugar across the room until it slid underneath my chair, “…and he doesn’t like it too hot, or lukewarm.” What the hell?

I quickly made the cup, thanked her and strutted off to his office, not willing to spend one more minute behind time…

As soon as I got to the door leading to his office, I froze allowing the hot chocolate in my hands to fall to the ground. The sound of the ceramic cup hitting against the tiled floor snapped me out of my thoughts, I blinked.

“What the hell are you doing there, jinx?!” A lady with fake red hair snarled from inside his office. A few minutes ago, I had walked in on her trying to give him a blow job, and I couldn’t help the sudden feeling of jealousy, of anger I had felt towards the both of them.

“I’m sorry.” I quickly apologized, bending down to pick up the pieces of broken ceramics littered across the room. I felt the Alpha’s gaze on me but I couldn’t look up. I was too embarrassed, too flustered to.

“Honey, who is this?” She asked the Alpha, pointing at me like I was an abomination, a piece of dirt that never should’ve never been in the same room as her. I flinched at the open shade.

“My new employee.” He simply said, his gaze never leaving my face. Still, I ignored it.

“I always wonder how you seemingly employ only the worst kinds of people!” She spat, then turning to look at me, she continued; “this one isn’t just clumsy, but is also slow and deranged.” Her insults were fast beginning to get to me, and I had to take in long deep breaths to refrain from snapping at her.

“Hey be fast with that nonsense you’re doing!” She yelled, “I was quite busy before you came in!” In a bid to hurry up, I accidentally ran my hand over a piece of broken ceramic shard, which immediately cut open my finger, I screamed in pain.

With blurry eyes, I watched the deep cut begin to bleed slowly but that didn’t earn me any form of sympathy from these unfeeling beasts!

“Be quick you faggot!” She yelled, eying me down. I couldn’t seem to move my fingers, they felt numb from pain, silently I wished I had never walked in in the first place.

“Are you disobeying my orders!” She yelled venomously.

“No, my hand hurts, I just sustained a—” I rushed out…

“Ah, you’re indeed disobeying my orders!” She screeched, cutting me off. “You think that little scratch on your hand is pain right? Now I’ll show you what pain truly is!” She yelled with an evil glint in her eyes. I wanted to protest, but I knew it was their words against mine, I had lost even before the battle started.

“Now stand up, raise your skirts, and sit on that floor!” She growled. Wait what? No way! Was she on some kind of murderous intent or what? I looked up to Alpha Xavier, to plead with his guest, but the look on his stoic face made me swallow back my words…

With no one else to ask for help, I held my up skirt a little, and sat on the floor littered with now warm chocolate and shards of ceramic. Tiny pieces of the broken cup tore into my skin, making me scrunch up my nose in pain.

The pain worsened, as the pieces began to slowly go deeper into my skin. It was unbearable. My eyes tore up as I felt blood begin to slowly seep out of the cuts.

It made me feel angry, and bitter, because even in this state, I couldn’t help but notice how Alpha Xavier and his guest watched on, with bemused expressions on their faces…
