Chapter 9

**Scarlett's POV**

All I could feel towards the both of them was resentment and bitterness. Coupled with the pain that shot through my veins was my uneven breathing as I couldn't take it anymore. Tears welled up in my eyes, and I bit my lip hard to stop myself from crying out loud.

The red haired lady bent over and laughed; she was enjoying the hell I was going through. How I wish I could wipe that smug look off her face; I'd be delighted.

“How are you loving that?” She asked, still wearing that smile I desperately want to turn upside down.

I raised my head to look into her eyes, but she grabbed my hair instead.

“Wow, you have no respect at all. You had the guts to stare into my eyes?” She pressed my body down, giving the shards of ceramic an opportunity to dig deeper into my skin. I winced in pain as hot tears dropped from my eyes. “To be honest, I wonder where he gets incompetent, sluggish and disheveled workers like you from. You're so pathetic!” She exclaimed and stood up. “Now, apologize to me.”

Is she for real? If there is anyone who needs an apology here; it's me. After torturing me like this, she wanted me to apologize to her? For what exactly?

“Make it fast. I haven't got all day, you know.” She looked at me and I could see disgust in her eyes.

I looked at Alpha Xavier, hoping he would just ask her to leave me alone and come in, so then could continue whatever rubbish they were doing before I “interrupted” and spoiled their fun, but he sat there with his face void of any emotions, expecting me to apologize to her. I sighed; who was I kidding?  Did I actually think he would help?

“I'm… S… Sorry.” I stuttered. Obviously, I didn't want to apologize, and she wasn't daft to not figure that out.

“Is apologizing to me that difficult? Do you need to go through something worse before you swallow your fucking pride and say you're sorry?” She yelled.

What could be worse than the pain I'm going through right now? I would be a fool if I waited to find out.

“I am sorry, it won't happen again.” I said through gritted teeth.

She chuckled in satisfaction and dragged me up. “That wasn't hard, was it?” She asked. I rolled my eyes internally, what it would take for me to bury my fingers in her eyes right now. “Clean this up,” With that said, she entered and slammed the door shut.

How am I supposed to bend over when my butt is literally bleeding with pieces of ceramic in my skin?

“Oh, and don't forget to bring two glasses of what you spilled immediately after you're done cleaning up.” I heard the red haired devil order from within and felt my chest squeezed in anger and hate. I exhaled and winced in pain as I bent over to pick the remaining pieces from the floor. After disposing of them, I took a mop stick and wiped the place clean before limping to the frother to get another cup of chocolate.

I followed the lady's instructions again and made two cups of warm chocolate for them while ignoring the pain I was also getting from the cut on my hand coupled with where the shards of ceramic dug into my skin. When I got to his office, this time I was careful not to interrupt them. Anger seared through my system as I heard her moaning uncontrollably; I don't even know why I'm bothered. It took everything in me not to push open the door and yell at them to stop already.

Should I stand and wait until they're done before knocking on the door, or should I just drop it somewhere they'd open the door and find it? These two decisions might put me in another round of trouble, but I can't stand and keep listening to the gibberish that bimbo has been mumbling since I came.

The room became silent all of a sudden, and I thanked my stars that they were finally done. I sighed and summoned the courage to knock.

“Get in here.” I heard her voice from inside; that voice that made me angry whenever I heard it.

Gently and slowly, I opened the door and entered. The first person I fixed my gaze on was Alpha Xavier, who was fiddling with his suit button before averting my gaze to… her!

“What took you so long?” She asked.

I rolled my eyes internally. “I_”

“Whatever,” She waved me off. “Bring it over here and be snappy.” She ordered.

I walked over to where she sat and gave her one cup. I was about to turn and hand the second cup over to Alpha Xavier, but her words made me halt.

“Is this chocolate or tea? Even tea tastes better than this crap.” She scoffed in disgust.

“What is wrong with it?” I asked, obviously irritated with her attitude.

“Everything. First off, it's cold, second, it's too plain.”

Before I could open my mouth to speak, she emptied the cup of chocolate all over me. I gasped when the warm chocolate made contact with my skin.

“Just get out of here!” She yelled.

I looked at Alpha Xavier, but didn't see any reaction from him. Instead, his eyes were all over my body. Due to the dampness of my clothes, it had stuck to my body and made some parts visible. Without uttering a word, I turned and left the office.

I rushed to the bathroom with the sole aim of freshening up, treating my wound and changing to a new set of clothes. I managed to get the remaining shards of ceramic that had sunk into my skin out and took my bath, then stepped out of the bathroom. Ignoring the pain, I made my way to where I kept the clothes given to me. I had barely finished buttoning up when word came that the Alpha needed me in his chambers immediately.

My heart sank.

I was done for.
