            Three and a half weeks later . . .

            It was Selena’s first gallery showing and she was more nervous than the artists whose work was on display. Desmond had let her select which pieces to put on display for the event at Early’s. He wanted to see how her taste would go over with his upper class clientele.

            Bruce and Trevor showed up to support her. Trevor arrived with a date. Her name was Ava Bartholomew. She was pretty enough to be a model. When Selena had said that to her, Ava laughed and said that she had done some modeling. After talking to Ava, Selena learned she was a young socialite. Her father was a semi-retired stockbroker and her mother lived off her divorce settlement in the Caribbean.
