Audrey’s POV

The next day in court, seated there waiting for the sentencing to commence, I turned around to observe the people seated there also patiently waiting for the verdict; the verdict which most people could have already guessed the outcome.

Before then, before Erik’s mysterious escape and return, he had already been convicted of numerous crimes and back once more in the courtroom for another case, fresh charges were stirred up against him in addition to the previous ones. I looked at him standing inside the podium and I could not help pity him a bit as he looked miserable.

I knew the feeling of his current situation as I had been there not long ago. I imagined mocking him like he had done to me before but it just did not sit right with me. I noticed that he avoided my stare which I had no problem with, for I entertained no mockery of him.
