33. The Betrayal

Lucy’s POV

I kept running until I merely didn't know where to go. The terrifying sensation that someone was closing in on me caused my heart to race with pain. Until a strong hand grabbed mine and put a hand over my mouth.

It was Edward, and I couldn't believe my eyes when he murmured, "Let's go."

He led me to his car, and I didn't think twice about going with him. The only thing on my mind was escaping this pit of misery.

I inhaled deeply as we were now well away from Arman's place. Suddenly, I broke down in tears as I thought about what had happened to my dad and all the people Arman had killed in front of me and behind my back.

I glanced at Edward and said, “Edward… just dropped me here.”

Even though he was a bit hesitant, he remained silent and eventually pulled over the car. "Why do you really want to be by yourself? You don't want my help?"

“Thank you. I think you should stay out of my problem."

He touched my hand and said, “But where are you going now?”
