Vincent’s POV

I watched her run off and I felt a little discomforting thud in my chest, and I sighed deeply.

I watched her quietly until she was in the safe hands of her house, and that was when I turned to Duello whose eyes were fixed on me from the rear- view mirror.

Let’s go to the base! I told him, and he nodded and resumed driving. His face I realized held a full look of confusion, and though knowing fully well the reason for that, I didn’t feel entitled to ask or explain anything to him.

I was already feeling low spirited, and I wasn’t sure if it was a result of the fact Elena running out of the car crying or because of the terrible news I Just received.

When she defended me before my dad, I had felt a rush of warmth run through me for that single action of hers, and seeing her relate so well with my mother brought so many emotions I haven’t felt for a long time rushing back into me.
