Two years later. . .
"Ma'am, good morning.""Good morning! Has my brother arrived yet?" Carnation inquired as she entered her own office.
"Sir Wren hasn't arrived yet, but I'm sure he'll be here soon; he and his wife only arrived last week after their honeymoon," the secretary informed her as she followed her inside the office.
"Is that so?" Carnation removed her suit and leaned back in her swivel chair. Her secretary went straight to her office's small pantry to make her a cup of coffee. "What happened at the meeting called off by my older brother?"
"I've rescheduled the meeting; it will be later at 3pm, and I hope your brother shows up," Carnation shook her head at what her secretary said. Her older brother had to have worked at the office last week. The issue is that Wren may not want to leave her wife alone. Tsk! They've been on a three-month honeymoon in various countries around the world, and he still doesn't want to be sepa
"It's good you came in today? I really thought you were going to give me your company," Carnation said as she entered her older brother's office. When her secretary informed her that Wren had arrived at work today, he went straight to his office. "I can do that; do you want to?" Wren jokingly replied. "No thanks! I never desired to be a CEO; I'm happy with my job and my wealth." Wren chuckled. It directed her to the office's lounge area, inviting her to sit there, and she did. Wren rose from his office chair and sat on the couch opposite where she was. "Mistina and I were unable to return immediately due to a problem with their family after our wedding, and we had a lot of work to do at home last week, so I couldn't attend work either," Wren Leath explained. "So... How's married life? Are you happy now?" she asked, trying not to sound bitter. She simply did not have a positive experience in her previous relationships. She was hurt the first ti
"Ma'am, Sir Wregan is waiting for you downstairs," Carnation's secretary said as the woman entered her office. She frowned as she lifted her head from the papers she was reading. "What is he doing in the lobby? Why didn't he come up here?""He told me to tell you to come down," her secretary replied with a shrug. Now, what does that man need from her, and why doesn't he come to her instead?"All right, just cancel the meetings for today. I had a strong feeling that one guy would run away with me from work again. He probably heard Wren is back," she said as she placed the items on her table."Okay, Ma'am. Should I also inform Sir Wren of your and Sir Wregan's day off?""No need. Knowing Wregan, I'm sure Wren already knows. Wregan probably told our brother that we were leaving." Her secretary nodded and returned to her own table. When she entered the lobby, she noticed Wregan standing in front of the reception desk, flirting with the reception
Wregan helps her get out of the car. He took the box of triple chocolate cake they had purchased from a well-known bakery from her grasp. They left Batangas and arrived in Manila in the afternoon, but got stuck in traffic on the EDSA on their way to Wren House, so they arrived late. They entered the main door of their older brother's house together. When one of the servants saw them, she immediately greeted them."Good evening, Ma'am, Sir." Carnation smiled at the maid."Where is Wren?" Wregan asked and looked around the living room but there wasn't even a single person there."They're already in the dining room, Sir. Let me assist you with this, sir," said the maid, taking the box of cake from Wregan's hands, but Wregan refused to give it to her. Carnation couldn't help but stare at her companion."What are you doing?" she asked Wregan, lightly kicking him on the feet."Sir,—"No, it's fine, I'll handle it; ju
Carnation had been reading the report she was holding, but she didn't understand much of what she was reading. Her brain isn't working. It was flying around somewhere, and it was really bothering her! Why does she need to see Luca? He could have stayed in New York his entire life and never returned to the Philippines."Is there a problem? You've been reading that piece of paper for far too long," Lizette observed as she placed the coffee cup on the center table.Carnation shook her head in a series of motions. "No, I just don't understand what it says.""Why? Is the content of that one piece of paper too complicated?" Lizette sat on the living room's carpeted floor next to her and peered at the paper she was holding. "Ow stupid! How can you understand that when there's nothing written in the piece of sh*t! Mauve, I know you've got a problem. Tell me. What is it?"She exhaled a sigh. Should she inform her? Luca is with his brother. Did Lizette know that he
Carnation exhaled a deep sigh. Her gaze was drawn to Farkas and Lizette, who were both stunned and staring at each other. Fast learns about his son, it seems today is her friend's dreaded day."Let me look after your son.” She approached Lizette. "I think you two need to talk," she said, taking the baby from Lizette and going inside the house to give Farkas and Lizette time to talk."Your mommy will be furious with your daddy, baby," Carnation muttered as she entered the house. What drew that man here? She let out a deep sigh and kissed the baby on the cheek."Aunt Mauve will look after you for the time being, all right? Mommy and Daddy really need to talk," she said as she sat on the sofa in the living room. Her phone rang several times, she took it from the pocket of her jacket."Yes?" she replied to her secretary's call."Ma'am Mauve, there is a man in the office looking for you. "I told him to leave because he didn't have an appointment,
Carnation clung to the white curtain of the window as she stood in front of the large glass window. She looks out at the blue sea, but she is unable to praise it because of her rage at the man who forced her to bring her to the island where she is now."The food is ready. Come on, join me for breakfast," Luca, who was standing just behind her, offered tenderly."I'm not hungry," she stated emphatically. She's not going to eat with this jerk behind her. Whatever happens, she will never eat with him. Even if Luca holds a gun to her head, she will never eat with him. Perhaps it's better for her to die than to eat with him. She was furious with him."No, because you didn't eat dinner last night, you need to eat today; come on, your stomach needs to be full; don't be stubborn Carnation, you might get sick from what you're doing.""I'd rather get sick than eat with you," she said obstinately."Fine. I won't eat with you, just eat," the young man said, le
The maid quickly snatched the cup Carnation was holding, in her shock she violently looked at the maid. "Oh my gosh! You startled me.""I'm sorry ma'am. What do you want? I'll do it instead," the maid presented and pulled her to sit on the high chair. "Do you want a coffee?""N-no, I'm fine." Carnation stood up again. "I can do it myself, I'll make my own coffee—""Ma'am… Sir Luca has strictly instructed us to serve you.""But I can—""I'll lose my job if I let you do what you want Ma'am. We're here to serve you and give you what you want." Carnation did not continue to approach the countertop to prepare herself a coffee. She took a deep breath, and turned to the maid again. She smiled sparingly at her."Looks like I can't do anything anymore." She surrendered and let the maid make her coffee. Carnation just fitted herself into sitting in the high chair and comforted herself by looking at the kitchen interior.Grego
Carnation's smile was bitter as she stared at the full length mirror in front of her. She caressed the dress she was wearing and felt its soft fabric. She no longer expected that she and Luca would meet again, but destiny could really be played.Who would have thought that the young man would be able to kidnap her just to be alone on this island. "He's going crazy," Carnation exclaimed to herself while still staring at her own reflection in the mirror. What's the use of all of this when he's going to marry another woman anyway? She didn’t really understand Luca’s goal here. Everyone knows about his engagement to the daughter of one of the board members in his father’s company, so what is his intention to her? She needed to know Luca's true purpose for all of this. It was impossible for him to just give up the two years he had spent in New York to get his father's company just to get back together with her. A series of knocks on the door aroused Carnation's fly
