Chapter Thirty Five

He saw Tristan curled up in a ball at the foot of the couch on the floor. He had several cushions surrounding him, two were on himself. He was so well hidden between all of them that Roth had missed him earlier.

Roth stood up and rushed to Tristan.

He kneeled down beside him and panickedly removed all the cushions from on top of him. Tristan appeared unconscious.

Roth felt like his heart was about to stop.

Was he too late?

He took Tristan’s head in his wet cold hands and gently slapped Tristan’s cheek, desperately shouting, “Tristan, wake up!”

Roth didn't know whether it was his voice, or the cold of his hands that Tristan opened his eyes. His eyes shot up at the ceiling. His eyes were wide in fear, as he shook his head and sat up straight, picking up the cushions from the floor.

Roth gently took the cushions away from him, and said, “It’s okay, Tris. I am here now.”

That was when Tristan acknowledged him.

Tristan's eyes went even wider as he took Roth in, before he whispered, “
