Chapter Thirty Six

Tristan saw him looking at himself, and smiled at him. Roth smiled back, but he did see that after noticing Roth observing him, Tristan’s hands were shakier and he spilled some tea on the slab.

Roth chuckled to himself - so much had not changed.

He stepped forward and offered to take the kettle from Tristan’s hands. Tristan handed the kettle to him. Their hands brushed together for a brief second before both of them pulled away, several colors of the past flashing on their faces as they looked up at each other.

The golden-green eyes met the gray-black eyes, and what was not in that eye contact. Tristan was the first one to tear it away. He stepped back and hastily picked up his teacup, proceeding to take a seat at the stool around the kitchen island.

Roth eyed him with a sad smile, then poured out his own tea and pulled out another stool from underneath the kitchen island.

Several moments of silence passed between them, before Roth spoke, running his finger around the circular ed
