Episode 3

The librarian looked taken aback and adjusted her eyeglass, her gaze changed into a weird one. It seems she wasn't expecting that and arched her thin brows, " Excuse me?"

It was somehow rare for a person to ask such things in a library, not to talk of a little kid. The librarian narrowed her eyes and wondered why the little girl requested such a thing.

Lexa sensed how the librarian gaze changed, and she frowned slightly but decided to look for a way to convince the librarian. And soon enough, a little bulb lit inside her head. She blinked her eyes and parted her lips slightly, " I was experimenting somethings about flowers with good scent a while ago, and I suddenly became curious to know if there was a way to hide their scents."

Lexa really hoped for the librarian to buy her pretty lie as that was the only solution her brain could come up with.

" Hummm,"

The librarian nodded her head, but her eyes never left Lexa, and it made the latter to feel uncomfortable, but there was nothing she could say.

" Well, I guess it normal for a little girl like you to be curious about that, so okay,"

The librarian gestured for Lexa to come with her, leading the little girl to a big old shelf containing big books.

Lexa was really elated, and she could see her plans falling into place gradually. Only the goddess knows how her chest was palpitating loudly , as if her heart wanted to escape from it's cage.

" You can search for what you want here, but please be careful," her ears caught the librarian's words, and she agreed subconsciously by inclining her head up and down. Then, the librarian left to continue her duties.

The little girl searched around the big shelf, going through different layers, and alas she found what she was looking for.

Who would have thought getting the book that could help her would be this easy?

Even Lexa herself wasn't definitely sure but was only giving it a tral, turns out it actually worked.

Lexa carried the book, but it was too big for her puny hands and sort of heavy, but she managed to take it with her to a particular little seat. Immediately she sat down, she opened the thick book and started going through it. She didn't have time to read that much, so she was only skimming the pages.

But some minutes later, a slow smile creeped on her lips, and she jumped up happily. The little girl was very glad to get what she was searching for.

Lexa went through the page that explained how to hide any scent, but the process was somehow strange to her, and she checked the book again to make sure she picked the right one.

Is this book a joke or what? She questioned herself inwardly and shook her head. Lexa continued to read the page, but it was kind of difficult for her, cause she had no opportunity to get educated. The only way she got to know how to read was through her friends and some little teachings she did for herself.

It didn't take long for her to complete reading the page, but a thin line formed on the crown of her head, as she was doubting if the process can really work or not.

Checking her time, she realized her time was almost gone, and she stood up, placing back the book to where it belong. And ambling out of the library.

Lexa thanked the librarian before she left and when she got to the road, she started thinking about what she read. Then, she made up her mind to try the process and hoped for it to work.

Camela was patiently waiting for Lexa at the entrance of her house, with her arms crossed on her chest, and she tapped the ground lightly using her left leg.

" How dare she leave the house! She is a dead meat today!"

She mumbled, barely inaudible and snorted loudly when her sharp nose picked up Lexa's strong scent. Camela's fury increased, and she felt like punching the hell out of her, but she knew it won't lead to anything good, so she pushed away the feeling.

Lexa arrived at the house and was surprised to see her foster mother waiting for her outside, instantly an alarming feeling grew in her chest, and she quivered like a tiny leaf.

" Foolish child, welcome back, and did you enjoy where you are coming from?!"

Lexa heard Camela's deep voice, and it sent nothing but shivers to her body, to the extent her legs became weak.

She could see Camela ambling towards her, and she swiftly dropped to the ground with her kneels while begging the mad woman, who was almost close to her.

Her eyes were already brimming up with tears, but she was aware there was no way for her to escape this.

When Camela was close to her foster daughter's side, she raised up her right hand and hit the little girl's left cheek hardly. The slap was resounding that made Lexa to fall flatly on the ground, with her left cheek getting numb. She didn't scream, except cry to herself, which was a pleasant sight for Camela.

Seeing Lexa in that state, Camela was satisfied and headed back inside her house, slamming the door loudly.

Lexa stayed in that position for a while, before she struggled to get up and bit her bottom lips, so as to stop crying. She hated the kind of life she was living but promised to free herself one day, once it is the perfect time. She moved slowly into the house and went straight to her room.

The moment she got to her room, she exhaled loudly and slumped heavily on the bed. That was when her mind drifted to the thing she read at the library, and since she was alone now, she decided to try it out.

The little girl sat on the cold floor and crossed her legs together, then she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Lexa tried succumbing to her inner self while inhaling and exhaling. She locked her scent inside her, which she could only reveal if she wants to but had no idea if the meditation worked.

Lexa opened her eyes and felt somehow different but didn't take note of that. She sniffed herself and surprisingly her strong scent was gone, but it appeared like a dream to her. And she sniffed her body again, but it was still the same result.

Delighted, she really didn't expected that but realizing the meditation was successful, her happiness bursted out.

Now, I only have to wait for the right time, before I escape from all these, Lexa thought and climbed up her bed. The day was a good one for her, and she thanked her stars internally.

Hours passed by until it was finally dusk, the big flaming ball was beginning to set, and it was taking away it bright glory.

Lexa was taking a peaceful nap, but it was interrupted by a loud bang on her door.
