DARREN'S POV

I rushed to the address Rupert gave me. The house he rented was across the street. The second house to the left. He had a good sight of the witch from where he's at. He's got the telescope he used to spy on her everyday.

I knocked at the door, but Rupert didn't answer. I peeked out the window, but no one was at home.

"Where on earth is that guy?" I was about to call him when I saw him came out of the witch's home. He waves at me.

"You're here. Come on!"

"What are you doing? Did you sneak into her house again? Rupert, I swear…."

"Relax. I just helped her throw the garbage."

"So, you're friends with her now?"

"Ahhh, slight. But I told her about you, and she's willing to listen."

Listen? I furrowed my brows. Instead, he urged me to follow him, and I did. She was in the kitchen when we entered her house.

"Mariko, this is Darren. My….”

"The werewolf," Mariko answered, cutting Rupert off. She was calm now and friendly. Rupert did make progress here and persuaded her mind.
