Dawson’s POV

The heart monitor stopped beeping. Summer's heart had stopped beating. I had no control over the tears streaming down my face. My mate, the mother of my children, was gone. I held Jaxon’s shoulder as I reached across for my brother’s hand. Closing my eyes, wishing I had got to know her. My body trembled with shock and grief. This was the worst moment of my life.

The kids became hysterical, everyone else in the room just cried. I went to let go of Nathan’s hand, but I couldn’t let go. I assumed he just didn’t want to let go of me. I looked at Nathan but he had his head down; he was so upset. I tugged my hand again, jerking him a little. But he still didn’t let go. Then he looked at me.

His eye was bright, his eye was glowing. “Is mine?” I asked him.

“Yeah”. We must have looked crazy as we started smiling, which slowly turned to laughing. I wasn’t letting go of him at this point. I would hold on to him forever if it meant getting her back.
