Chapter 4: Connor

Blake and I woke up around six, Diana was still fast asleep. Sprawled out over the bed; we both chuckled as we walked towards the bathroom to get dressed. “That was unexpected.” I said, Blake turned to me,

“Last night?” He asked, I nodded, “It really was. I thought she wouldn’t be ready for something like that, but if we’re being honest, that’s not exactly what sex will be like for her with two mates.” I nodded,

“I just hope we didn’t push her too much last night.” I said as I slipped on my jeans, “The last thing I want to do is make her uncomfortable.” Blake came up beside me and cupped my face, his thumb caressed it gently, I smiled and leaned into the action, “I almost ruined everything…” I muttered, Blake gave me a look,

“Connor,” he began, “it’s because of you that Diana is even in that bed right now.” Blake stated, “And it’s because of you that both Diana and Luna Mary get to sign the treaty between the packs.” I smiled, but then I thought about last night, the giant bruise on Dianas’ back…makes me wonder if we SHOULD have a treaty with the pack. 

Blakes’ smile dropped when he noticed my tense expression, “What is it?” He asked; before I could reply, the bathroom door opened to reveal a still very sleepy Diana. 

I decided to try to escape the question and turned my attention to her, “Diana, did you sleep well?” She nodded,

“I woke up and you both were gone. I didn’t know if you went for a run or something.” She said, I could see a faint blush form on her cheeks which made me smile. Blake walked over to her and caressed her cheek, just like he did to me just a few moments ago.

“Why don’t you get dressed?” He said to her, “Then we can go down for breakfast.” Diana nodded and we both exited the bathroom and waited for her to get dressed.

There was a huge breakfast buffet set out in the dining hall; Victor and Mary sat with their children. “Ah, the newly mated couples!” He exclaimed, “I’m sure last night was as glorious as you had hoped, Alphas’.” I smiled,

“Yes, well, this whole trip has been very unexpected, to say the least.” I replied, Blake nodded in agreement,

“Yes, well, Diana was told exactly what to do by her mother so I’m sure she obeyed your every desire.” Victor explained; I glanced at Diana, who was shifting unsettlingly behind us. Blake noticed this too but turned his attention back to Victor,

“Indeed.” Blake replied, “We cannot stay long, we must leave today. Connor and I have important duties to attend to back home and our mate needs to begin learning her duties as well.” Victor and Mary raised a brow at us,

“But Alphas’,” Mary began, “A Lunas’ sole purpose is to bear heirs for you. We have no other duties besides that.” Hearing her say that made me sick. But we both thought best to ignore her statement,

“Right, that’s what we meant, we want her to start bearing pups right away.” Blake stated, Diana tensed but didn’t say a word, I gripped her hand in mine to let her know everything was going to be okay. 

Mary smiled as she began rubbing her belly slightly, “Yes, we’re expecting another pup too. We found out last night.” I looked at the children sitting at the table already; seven girls and one boy. These two don’t seem to want to stop having children, I thought. Diana pulled on my shirt and I leaned down to hear her,

“I’m not hungry, could we sign the treaty and go?” I turned to Blake, who nodded,

“We should let Diana sign the treaty now, before we leave.” I said; I could see the rage hidden behind Victors’ eyes, but he smiled,

“Of course, Alphas’. Anything for the strongest pack in the United States.” Blake and I nodded as we all made our way to the office.

Diana hesitated as she looked over the treaty. Blake and I placed our hands on her shoulders but she just tensed even more. Diana finally took the pen from Victor then went to sign just under mine and Blakes’ names; her hand shook the whole time. 

Victor glared at Diana, but then quickly turned and smiled at me and Blake, “Alphas’, is there anything else we can do for you?” He turned his attention to Diana, “Perhaps arrange separate cars for you.” I fought a growl that was threatening to erupt from my chest, but of course…

“Not at all.” Blake replied, “The long journey will allow some time to get started with her duties.” Diana tensed again, I knew this was upsetting her, so did Blake, we just didn’t understand why. Just like we didn’t understand why this pack was treating their women, more importantly, their Luna as mere objects for pups. That is not all they are for and I intend to prove this to Diana. 

Victor smirked at Blakes’ comment, “Very well, then. I wish you safe travels and good luck with your new mate.” 

Matthew was waiting for us outside the office and turned as we left the room, “Is everything ready to go?” I ask, 

“Yes, sir. Everything is packed in the cars and I have arranged a vehicle for the three of you to have a bit of privacy.” I nodded, 

“Let’s get out of here.” Blake said as we escorted Diana out of the house. 

We almost made it to the car but the moment we reached the door, Helen was standing there, “Diana, I raised you better than that.” She said to Diana, “How dare you try to leave without saying goodbye to your mother.” Diana squeezed my hand,

“I’m sorry, mother.” She said softly, and made her way towards her mother. 

“I don’t like this, Blake.” I linked him,

“I don’t either, but we need to play it safe until we can get her out of here.” I give a subtle nod and wait for Diana to come back. When she turned back to us, we opened the door for her and watched her get in; her face was pale and her eyes looked like she was trying to fight back tears. Blake climbed in after her, and I closed the door when he got in and I went around the other side. Once I was in and the door was shut, we were off to our home.
