With a final surge of will, River pictured the typical warmth of the restaurant kitchen – the worn wooden floor, the scent of frying onions and projected her telepathic ability there.

She could remember Tara’s words back in the woods with the rogues; find an emotion within you to connect to and bend it to your will.

The mere recollecting Tara’s voice or picturing the restaurant that now held memories that would be nothing but bad was enough to channel emotions within her.
