Forty Five

May’s POV

When I woke up the next morning, I felt as if I had been run over by a truck with the way my body felt, and the ache in my leg felt really bad.

I looked around slowly after opening my eyes to see that I was in the hospital. Oh, yeah! Those bastards that had attacked me from the alley had caused me to end up here.

I tried to stretch my legs but I couldn’t so I just gave up, wincing as I did. I looked around the room again to see my mother perched on the couch, with Emily beside her, and when she looked at me to see I had opened my eyes, she nudged my mother gently.

Quickly, they stood up from the couch and walked to me. “Are you all right?” Emily asked the same time my mother said. “Don’t try to move.”

At that, I rolled my eyes and shook my head. My mother was acting as if I was crippled. It was just a wound from the shattered glass that was on the floor of the alley I had fallen on, and nothing serious.
