Sixty Nine

Asher’s POV

As I stepped into my father's study that morning, the air felt heavier than usual, and I knew he was going to say something serious.

When I woke up this morning to his message and he wanted me to come see him, I had thought of what this might be about, but then, seeing him right now, I knew that he was was going to talk about something serious than what I had thought.

He would normally call me like this even when he wanted to say a few things, like how he wanted to go on a vacation away from Mom, backpacking through Europe, or go skiing or hiking and the likes, but this was different.

This man was probably going to be the death of me. With the way he called me to talk these days, I might have an hypertension before I was even his age. This was certainly how he had called me those two years ago, and told me what was going to happen if I didn’t get married fast.
