Jeong’s POV
Leaving Rae in the bathroom I decided to head to the study. Since the bonding I can sense she wont do anything which puts me at ease. I’m sure he’ll be in the study as I walk the unnecessary twists and turns of the hallways. Just like the Compound, this place was also built like a labyrinth.
Upon reaching the study a servant opens the door and bows as I walk past. My father behind his desk over looking some paperwork looks up and raises an eyebrow.
Tapping a finger on the desk “Where is she?” as he looks annoyed.
“I didn’t think it proper for her to come dressed in import attire seeing as you didn’t leave us any time to prepare.” What did you expect old man…
“Very well.” as he leans back in his chair “Now do tell me, what changed your mind after all these years?”
“I haven’t changed my mind. I still mean what I said.” I can’t help but g
Rae’s POV Heading down the hallways in twists and turns, it begins reminding me of that prison only nicer looking. The maid has been silent ever since we left the bedroom. I hope she’s actually taking me where she said she is. I find myself praying that Jeong will be there, I’m not ready to be alone with his father. Or at least I’d assume it’s his father since they call Jeong ‘Young Lord’. The maid stops in front of large double doors and turns to me “Wait here, when they are ready for you they will summon you.” then left without another word. I’m now standing here in the hallway wondering what to do. I begin noticing the paintings and statues around the hall and find myself looking at them. The paintings consist of still life’s and scenic landscapes that are all well done, although I’m not really much of a judge on art. The statues mainly consist of busts of people I have no idea who they are meant to be.
Rae’s POV Jeong leads me towards the garden. Once outside we follow a path down a few steps onto a patio where his father is already there waiting for us. The table was circular that was large enough to fit eight people comfortably. Jeong had me sit at the seat almost across from his father while he took the seat to my right. I’d assume he thought this was the most distance he could get between his father and I. Not soon after sitting down the servants began bringing carts of food and setting them on the table. “I wasn’t sure what your preference is so I had them make a little of everything.” said Jeong’s father as he waved off the servants. The food all looks different from what I’m use to back on Earth. Don’t get me wrong, the food looks delicious but none of it is what I recognize. I can tell what’s meat and whats vegetable maybe? I mean I’m all for trying new things at least once, but thi
Rae’s POV While In the carriage Jeong has been awfully quiet. When I glance over at him, he is just sitting there with his arms and legs crossed, eyes closed. He remains silent but I can tell the further along we get the more his face tenses like if he’s mulling over something. When the carriage finally reaches the outskirts of town and makes it’s way down a country styled road Jeong finally breaks the silence. “What did my father tell you while I was gone?” his eyes still closed slightly furrowed. “He asked why I decided to help you.” as I was somewhat still looking out the carriage window only half way looking at him. Opening his eyes he looks at me “What did you tell him?” “Only that I knew my options and Zviad frightened me.” what else could I have said? “Was that all?” with a concerned look on his face. I can’t help but
Rae’s POV Jeong lets out a sigh “Yes unfortunately.” as he gazes out the window “What became of this world is the whole reason why I refuse to bring an heir to life. There is no hope for the future.” He sounds like he is truly disgusted with this world. If he really hates the whole thing then why did he decide to claim me if by claiming me he went against everything he believes in? Was it really because he just wanted to protect me? Then I would have to ask again why me? Why not some other woman? Maybe I shouldn’t worry about it. After all if he keeps his word I am thankful he isn’t going to turn me into some sex slave to bare him children. Before I can even think about what to even say I feel the carriage turn off the road onto another. Soon I begin seeing what seems to be small homes and apartment buildings. Along the road I see a few stalls selling food, cloth, and other trinkets. It’s so weird, it seems like th
Rae’s POV Following Jean down the hallway I take in my surroundings. This place isn’t nearly as formal as his fathers was, I felt suffocated there. Instead this place is rather casual and comfortable. Jean stops in front of a door “This will be your room. The adjoining room next to yours is Jeong’s. Across the hall is Nathan’s as well as Gerald’s and my room.” as she smiles at me then proceeds to open the door. Who’s Nathan? I shrug it off and walk into the room after Jean. It’s like a blast in the face, everything is pink. I internally gag trying to hide my horror. “I had the room redone for you.” as she walked towards the windows pulling back the drapes. I cringe trying to force a smile “Oh, you shouldn’t have.” Jean just smiles “It’s no problem, I’m glad I could help.” Pink is literally my least favorite color as I try to
Jeong’s POV After discussing the next step of our plan to reform society a knock was heard at the door. The door opens and Jean sticks her head through “Dinner is ready.” leaving soon after. Nathan throws his arms up while leaning back as he stretches on the couch “Ah that felt good.” then stands up in a flash “I’m starving lets eat.” We all leave the study heading towards the dinning room, but I stop in my tracks when we reach the stairs. I message Jean “Is Rae with you?” Jean answers “No, I let her relax in her room. I gave her a communication device and told her to call if she needed anything. Is something wrong?” “No, thank you Jean.” as I cut the link with her. I continue to look up at the stairs “You two go ahead, I’ll be right back.” I head up the stairs towards Rae’s room. Knocking at her door I hear nothing. Jean sa
Rae’s POVWaking to the morning light filling the room all I could feel was content. Not only do I feel well rested, but I got to see Mary in my dreams. I may not have wanted it to end, but regardless I was happy. Sitting up I wonder how I moved to this side of the bed under the covers. I remember falling asleep sideways on the bed above the covers on the opposite side.I decided to shrug it off and headed into the bathroom. I felt a morning shower was a good idea. Before taking a shower I started smelling the soaps out of habit. Every one of them had a strong sent which made me cringe. Now it seems all soaps from this world makes me worry. Even though the shower was calling my name I decided against it because the soap options just didn’t sit well with me.Walking into the closet I decided to choose a dress that reminded me of peasant wear that I’ve seen in movies. If worn with a few different accessor
Jeong’s POV I had a difficult time falling asleep last night which lead me to my study to do some research. I need to asses her powers and figure out what they are. I’ve never in my life seen or heard anyone capable of casting a multi colored power. With enough training sure someone can cast multiple types of powers but they are always distinctly separate. Hers seem to be combined some how. Cradling my head in my hands as I stare down at the open book on my desk. There is nothing, nothing at all. I’ve searched dozens of books and there is nothing about her power. I suppose I can just ask her, but does she even know? She’s managed to figure something out at least, right? I look towards the window and realize it’s morning already. I’ve been up all night, I wonder if she’s awake yet. Gerald links in with me “Jeong, you might want to come to the kitchen before Nathan makes a bigger fool of himself.”
