Chapter 45

Trinity

We stayed on the couch for a little longer. I didn’t know why he was holding me like this, but it was nice. He was so warm. Slowly, his breathing calmed down. A few moments later, he lifted me out of his lap and stood, heading back to my bedroom. I didn’t hear anything for a while, but it felt odd that he just got up like that.

“Lucian? Are you okay?”

He returned as he shrugged on his jacket. The white shirt was stained with blood. I bet the jacket would be stained too.

“I have to go,” he said.

I stood and went to him, wrapping my arms around his waist. I clung to him.

“Can’t you stay? We didn’t even….”

My face heated as I couldn’t get the words out. He lifted my chin up and kissed me deeply until I was gasping for breath and thought maybe he would stay and finish what we had started.

“I have to go,” he said again. His eyes were glowing again, but he didn’t seem angry. “I will come see you again when I have the time.”
