“Explain? Explain what, Nicholas? That you guys were about to fuck your ex wife?” I shake my head at them.
“No, we weren’t. I promise you that we weren’t.” Nicholas pleads, nearing me. I back all the way away from them, all the way until my back is pressed against my car. I raise my hand, silently asking them to not get in my space.
“Explain yourselves now, then. Or not at all. I don’t care anymore, guys. I’m over this shit.”
They share a look, both visibly worried.
“Sara asked us to come see her. She said it was really important. She wanted us to come alone.” Nicholas pauses.
“And you listened?” I look away from them, shaking my head.
I fucking knew it. I knew something wasn’t right.
“We wanted to be there for her, Caroline. She’s our best friend.” Antonio says, trying to reason with me.
I laugh humorously. “What a great best friend she must be for you to fucking kiss her.”
“It wasn’t like that, baby. Please. Just let us finish explaining.”
I shake my head slightly, but decide to let them finish.
“We came here, ready for it to be some serious issue. We thought she wanted to talk about Demitri, and that maybe she just didn’t want you here because you guys don’t know each other like that. Or maybe she was just trying to protect you.” Antonio says, biting his bottom lip.
“But as soon as we got here, we knew it was something else. She started talking to us about having feelings for us this whole time.”
I look up at them.
She has had feelings for them this whole time?
Have they felt the same for her?
“So that’s what this whole thing is then? She confessed her feelings to you guys? And you guys just decided now is the perfect opportunity to get with someone else?” I shake my head, looking them up and down. “Why would you guys be with me if you guys liked her? Or, why not get with her as soon as she came back from the fucking dead? You guys could have ended things with me first. You didn’t have to cheat. That makes this whole thing fucking worse.”
“Caroline, please.” Antonio pleads.
“Please, what, Antonio? You guys broke my heart. If you guys had only just decided to leave me first and then get with her, I could have gotten over it. We could have been fucking cordial, and just been great coparents. But no. You guys decided to leave me at my house alone. Pregnant and fucking alone. You guys went running away from me when I was damn near begging you guys to stay. And for what? So that you guys could come here and get with another bitch?”
“It’s not like that, Caroline!” Nicholas yells, shaking his head slightly. “We found out on the way that she has been working with Demitri.”
Demitri?
“The man who had gone after her to begin with? The whole reason she had to go into fucking hiding?” I question, wrapping my arms around my own waist, trying to provide myself some kind of comfort.
“Yes, that very same man. She has been working for him this whole fucking time.” Antonio goes on, ready to continue, ready to explain.
But I stop him.
“Look, guys. I get that maybe you guys feel like you had an excuse, or a reason to kiss her, and touch her, but at the end of the day, you guys cheated on me. And I really don’t want to keep hearing the excuses, because nothing could change the fact that you guys fucking cheated on me.” I turn around, facing my car, and begin to open the door, ready to just slide in and leave.
I want to leave.
I want to run away from them.
I want a fucking nap.
The car door, which I had only managed to open mere inches, is pushed closed. The slam echoes around the driveway.
“Please, Caroline. Please, don’t go. Let us talk. If you want to talk somewhere else, we can go back to your house. We will tell you every little detail. Just, please don’t leave us. Please.” Nicholas pleads, his breath hitched and his words a mere whisper floating behind me.
He and his twin are both right behind me. I can sense them, even though they don’t touch me at all.
I turn back around slowly, thinking over his words carefully.
If we go back to my house to talk, then I know I will just fall into their arms and forgive them.
I can’t do that, though.
I deserve better.
Much fucking better.
And I truly believe that whatever the story is, there is nothing that they say that can explain or excuse their actions. How could they fucking cheat on me?“Finish the story, then. But here.”They share another look, only inches away from me, before turning back around and facing me once more. “We finally got in touch with some old friends from Italy. Well, more like old enemies. Their names are Louis and Levi. Twins, as well. They had worked for Demitri for a while, but had escaped his cartel after he slept with and killed their mother. They were devastated and had pleaded with us to join us. But we knew that would be fatal. Demitri would have retaliated. So we declined their request, but secretly, we helped them. We gave them what they needed to live life without feeling like they would be killed at any time.”“What does this have to do with anything?” I question, crossing my arms against my chest.“Sorry, I got sidetracked.” Antonio says, biting his lip before continuing. “Anyway
“She would kiss us, sure. But if she was lying about liking us, like we believe that she was, she would never go too far with us.”“So you guys went along with it? Another girl kisses you guys, and you guys think that this whole thing justifies cheating on me?” I shake my head at them.“Caroline. It wasn’t like that. We didn’t cheat on you.” Antonio pleads.“Are you serious? You guys kissed her! That’s fucking cheating.”“But we told you why. We told you the whole story. Please, forgive us!” Nicholas says, frantically wrapping his arms around me.I shake my head and push against his chest, wanting nothing more than for him to let me go. Wanting nothing more than to be away from them.“Let me go, Nicholas! I can’t forgive you guys. Not right now.” I sob, tears staining my cheeks.“I’m sorry, mi amore. I’m so fucking sorry. We thought only of getting the truth. We didn’t think this would count as cheating.”I shake my head, still pushing against Nicholas’ chest.“You didn’t think, that’
If I forgave them right now, I could heal, and we could all build our lives together. We could get Sara out of our lives for good, and never worry about her again. We could go through the next few months of my pregnancy together, happy. We could actually hold hands at the doctor appointments, and I could watch them put the nursery together for the twins. We could move into a new house, and forget all about this one. We could have the twins and then more and more and more kids, just like Nicholas and Antonio want. If I forgave them right now, we could live the life we had already started building. But could I really forgive them? After everything that they just did?Opening my eyes, I look at both of them. “I can't forgive you guys, not right now. You guys have officially broken my heart. You guys have broken me. I don't even know if I can ever really forgive you guys. Like truly forgive you guys. Maybe one day I will be able to actually find a way to not hate you guys for this. But r
“I don't know what our future holds, and I can't promise you guys anything other than letting you guys be there for the twins. But I need my space, too. I don't want you guys showing up to my place in the middle of the night. I dont want you guys trying to get in my pants. And, while i dont want you guys to, I wont control who you guys sleep with, even if it is Sara. I just don't want to know anything about it, if it happens. I'll give you guys updates about the twins, and about any doctor appointments. That's all I can do right now, okay?” The twins both nod, both looking mournful.“We will give you the space you seek, Caroline. But we will never, ever stop trying to earn your trust again. Okay? Because we love you. And we want our family to be together again.” Nicholas says, smiling meekly while crossing his arms across his chest.“And about Sara? We will never sleep with her. We will never even fucking touch her again. She's going to leave, we promise you that. There is no one els
Amanda is a fucking saint. My personal knight in shining armor. She arrived at my doorstep less than seven hours later, which is insane since the flight here from Seattle alone is around five hours. And she stopped at a convenience store first on her way here from the airport. When I let her into my home, she immediately wrapped her arms around me while I sobbed loudly.“Oh, sweetheart. Now i really am going to have to fucking kill those stupid assholes.”She ushers me into the house and closes the door behind us. “Okay, so I brought three different kinds of ice cream, as well as some brownies, chocolates, drinks, and some frozen pizzas.”Her words make me sob harder.“Oh, honey.'' She rubs my arm gently in an effort to calm my crying. “Okay, so you should sit on the couch and get started on this ice cream while I start the pizzas. I know you haven't eaten, and you may not want to, but those babies in there need some kind of food. So ice cream and pizza it is.”I cry even harder.“I s
Watching caroline leave has to be the worst fucking thing i have ever fucking seen. She cant leave right now, thats all i kept fucking thinking as i watched her get in the car.As she drove away from us, I could no longer control my emotions.I fall to my knees in the driveway, tears streaming freely as sobs wreck my body.“We fucked up, nick. She will never forgive us now. What are we going to do?” I cry out.Nick sniffles next to me before pulling out his phone. “We can start by getting Sara out of our house.”He dials a number before pressing the phone to his ear.“Jameson, I need yo
We let her kiss us.We let her touch us.No, we don't like it.We got no fucking satisfaction from her.We were disgusted. But we let her do it anyway. We broke our vows to our wife.We broke her heart.Maybe she will never truly forgive us.When Lucien screamed his words, I thought something had happened to caroline. After all, why would he be here when he was supposed to be with our wife? But as soon as we saw Caroline there, staring at us with so
I sit on the couch, the tub of ice cream tucked in my lap, already a quarter of the way gone.Amanda sits on the other end of the couch. She looks worried.Very, very worried.I can see why. When I called her, I was hysterical. As she went to the airport, she stayed on the phone with me. She talked to me, gave me words of encouragement, words of reassurance. She stayed on the phone with me through the security line, all the way until she had to board the plane.“So, what the hell happened?” she asks, opening a tub of ice cream for herself.“I don't even know where to start
