Katherine Isobelle is Preston’s sister. They lost both of their parents because of an accident when they were young.
Katherine Isobelle was a photographer. She used to work in New Zealand.
Katherine Isobelle was married and she has a son. She signed the divorce papers but according to Preston, they are still married, because the divorce didn't push through.
She has Belle’s DNA and that means they are the same person.
Even after knowing all these facts, Hyacinth still couldn’t fully process everything that happened. A lot doesn't make sense. If it would, no one but her could make sense of it all but until she gets her memory back, it would be impossible.
This was the reason why she spent time away from everyone including Preston, who is the only person who knows the truth. He gave him these files about Belle that she needed to know and she has spent an ample amount of time studying herself like a person from History class.
There was a scream at the park that surprised her. She thought she was alone, and when she turned to look, an unfamiliar lady was looking at her with terrified eyes. Beside her, there was Nikolai. Of course, it’s him again.
Is he following her? He needs to back out and let her have her space. She badly wanted to tell him that, but he would ask questions that Hyacinth doesn’t want to answer yet. Both eyes were following him. Pretending she saw nothing, Hyacinth walked away and never looked back.

“Mom,” Hyacinth murmured. It was hard to say the word out loud.
“Yes, Hyacinth, honey. How’s everything? How’s Jack and Elias doing?” Her mother’s voice was sweet and jolly.
Deep inside, Hyacinth was hoping that her mother, Alice, had nothing to do with what was happening in her life. After waking up from a coma, she was made to believe that they raised her since she was a kid and that they are her real parents.
She began to cry.
“Oh, sweetie, what happened?”
“Mommy, can you be honest with me?”
Alice didn’t answer. Hyacinth took this as a sign that her guess was right. Her life was a lie. Preston wanted to be involved and file a case. She didn’t want that. Whatever purpose Alice had, the old lady has been nice ever since. She wanted an explanation, but she didn’t want to hurt the woman she knew as her mother.
“Can you be honest with me just this once? Because I know you’ve been lying to me and everyone is lying to me. I can’t trust anyone, Mom. So, please, I’m begging you. Can you be honest with me?”
“Hya, honey, I’m sorry.”
“Do you know that my name’s not even Hyacinth?”
“N-no. I was told not to ask questions.”
So, there was someone.
“Who do you mean someone?”
“I can’t remember, sweetie. They didn’t tell me their names and-and they knew we were in so much debt. They threatened to harm me if I didn't cooperate.”
“What exactly did they tell you?”
“That they need me to take care of someone who is about to be dead. You were in a coma at that time with the smallest chance of survival. They told me they needed me to be your legal guardian and to you when you’re dead. I’m so sorry, Hyacinth. I took care of you like my daughter. I loved you like my daughter. They expected you to die, but I know you’d make it.”
Someone just discarded her like trash. If she didn’t regain her consciousness, she’d probably be six feet underground and no one would visit her grave.
It must be challenging for her family and the people that took care of her. The person she’s most concerned with is Liam. Seven years. She was deprived of those years that she should have spent with her son. Their connection is so strong that even when she doesn't remember giving birth, she is being protective of her child.
Hyacinth will never forget whoever it was that caused her death and disappearance.
It would be convenient to hate Alice. She lied and let her be another person when there were people waiting for her to come back. But Hyacinth couldn’t bring herself to do that. Alice loved her like her own. In the files Preston gave, it said that they’ve lost both their parents at a very young age. In a way, she is thankful that she got to experience what it’s like to have a loving mother.
“They paid me. I wouldn’t deny that. Your father- Roy was very sick and we lost every penny and got so much debt for his treatment. That was why I accepted their offer. I told you so many lies, Hya and I would understand if you’d hate me. Please, understand sweetie, I really, really loved you and I still do.”
“Mom, don’t cry.” It was a lot to process, but she found it in her heart to forgive and understand the bigger picture. “Thank you for taking care of me. I know these things now, but I still don’t remember anything. I want to know the real me, Mom.”
“Of course. Let me know if you need any help, sweetie. Please, don’t announce it to the world yet. Someone out there wants you gone. Please, please always take care of yourself.”
Alice is right. Also the reason why she’s keeping things a secret except to Preston. There were times when she wanted to meet Liam again, not just her teacher. She wants to introduce herself as his mother, but not right now. At the right time, she certainly will.
That wasn’t as difficult as she expected. There was a big thorn removed from her chest after talking to her mother. Now, she has another puzzle to solve and that is to know who’s behind all of it.
She couldn’t do this alone. She phoned the only person whom she knew who could help her.
“Hello, Belle-I mean Hyacinth?” It didn’t even take two rings for Preston to answer the phone. She tried not to, but she was already getting used to this sister treatment she was getting from Preston.
“Preston, I need your help again. Is now a good time to talk or I can go to your office for an appointment.”
“Hya, even if you don’t remember it yet, you’re still and will always be family. We don’t need an appointment to talk and of course, I can help. Just say the word and we’ll make it happen.”
She tried not to, but Hyacinth smiled with the word family. Hopefully, this is the start of things going right and for her to reclaim what’s rightfully hers. “Thank you, Preston. I need your help with the visitation rights.”
“Yes, of course. We talked about it already. There’s already proof of DNA and your medical records. Though, I highly doubt Nikolai would contest any of our evidence.”
“I know. I think it’s time to talk to him.”
Preston was silent. She thought the call got disconnected but Hyacinth could hear him breathing.
“You know that means revealing to him that you’re Belle, right?”
“A closed door meeting. Just you, him, and me present.”
“That’s great news, Belle! Sorry. Hyacinth. Yes, that’s great news. Do you have some of your memories back?”
“Sadly, no. I keep in touch and go to check-ups with that doctor you recommended, don’t worry. But Preston, I also need you to do something else.”
“What is it?”
This would be hard on Preston’s part, for sure, but she needs this for now. She isn’t going back to Nikolai’s life and being his wife. She just wants to reconnect and bond with her only son. Nikolai isn’t part of that package.
“I need a restraining order against Nikolai. I don’t want him coming near me. I still don’t know who’s involved with my disappearance so, I’m not trusting anyone except for you. Preston, can you do that?”
Preston sighed heavily. “I think that’s the right thing to do too.”
“Thank you very much.”
“You’re my only family, Belle. Of course, I’d do anything to protect you.”
“You called me Belle again.”
“Oh shit. Yeah, sorry. Hyacinth.”
Hyacinth laughed for the first time that day. It would be nice to have her memory back. For sure, there are a lot of times that they bantered together as kids. She thinks that Preston is a really protective and helpful older brother. The least she could do for him as a thank you was to remember the memories she lost, but she couldn’t.
“You can call me, Belle, Prez. I’m sorry your younger sister couldn’t remember anything.”
“You're alive. That’s more than enough.” Preston is probably grinning at this moment. "You were the one who gave me the nickname Prez, you know. Welcome back, Belle."
“Hyacinth, I knew you would be back!”Should it be anger, jealousy, regret, or sadness? Hyacinth wasn’t sure what to feel first when she saw Jack after a long time. Perhaps it is a bit of everything. After what happened, she was sure that what they have is over. It probably ended long before she had an idea of him having an affair.“Why are you here in the office when we can talk at home? Honey, please. I can explain and I promise to be better. I made a horrible mistake, but I will still choose you, Hya. You’re the one I love.”“Really?”“Really. We’re married. Married people don’t throw away years of being together because of one foolish mistake. I guess, in our case, it would be two mistakes.”Is he with Jack because of desperation and confusion? The bigger picture is clearer for her now. Everything he said was stupid, if not fake. She let herself get fooled and got deceived by those lies.“I was about to file for a divorce.”Jack was shocked but recovered soon enough. “About to? Th
“Thank you for coming here, Belle.” Preston greeted her and opened the door of his home wider. It's Belle’s first time visiting Preston in a more relaxed setting. She figured it is time to proactively try and learn more about Katherine Isobelle because no matter how hard she tried, the memories aren't coming back. Time is a luxury she didn’t want to waste.Belle. She has to learn how to live as Belle.“I should be the one thanking you for accepting my invitation. Sorry for ruining any of your day off plans if you had any, Preston.”A quick glimpse of annoyance was on his face, and then it was gone. Preston laughed at his own actions, “I forgot for a moment there that you lost your memory. I thought you were teasing me or something.”Belle laughed. She has no idea what it feels like having a brother. Maybe before, but all of these feels new to her. Knowing that being herself reminded Preston of who she was before was a validation in a way that she has not lost her whole identity.“Why?
“Hi, kids!”“Miss Hya!” They collectively screamed. There was immediate chaos. The kind of chaos that Belle missed. There were a lot of chit-chats, but there were also a lot of smiles. Among the whole class, it was hard not to stare a little longer at the spot where Liam was seated. My son.Standing frozen, Belle was fighting the urge to run into Liam and apologize for leaving and causing him pain, for being absent to his past birthdays, for not recognizing him the first time they met. There was so much to apologize and so much time has passed.“Did you miss me?”“Yes, Teacher Hya.” The kids answered in unison. After finding out who she is even when her past memories have not come back yet, it was weird to hear the name Hyacinth. She loved being Hyacinth. In fact, her life was a dream. She had a loving husband, a precious son, and this work. Every day, she would find herself thanking the heavens for the life she had, because it felt like a gift. Something that wasn’t hers but was temp
The security in their private village was quite strict. The securities don't let anyone get in but they seemed accommodating to the homeowners. Having a neighbor also meant having to walk for at least fifteen minutes or drive by car to the nearest houses with tall gates. It's hard to estimate the cost of affording such a place alone but it was enough to conclude that you couldn't live here if you are not one of those wealthy people. Place where Nikolai could easily say where he belonged. The gates opened. The security recognized an unfamiliar face and took a long stare at her. Nikolai gave him a slight nod, and he nodded in return. ‘Wow.’ She's never been to a place as exclusive as this, and even more, a house with its own security.‘That man is my husband.’“You could have said no, Nikolai.” Belle said after Liam left the car and before Nikolai could open his side of the car door. She wasn't planning on going. One no from Nikolai w
If only he could turn back time a little so he could hear Hyacinth again.A part of that sounded wrong in his head. Was it Hyacinth speaking? Or was it Belle? He had to question everything that he just believed. He wouldn’t lie. Of course, a part of him thought that Hyacinth can be Belle, but she’s living a totally different life. With a husband that she seemed to love and her own son. The timeline wasn’t making sense. So, why? What is happening?“Hold on. Don’t move.” She said before going towards him. “Liam, can you do me a favor and stay in your bed, sweetie? Until all these glasses are thrown away.” She turned to him with those swollen, wide eyes. “Nikolai, get a hold of yourself and move away.”“What?”What happened just now? Nikolai wasn’t seeing her as Hyacinth anymore. The way she speaks and moves… It's like she’s Belle now.“For goodness’ sake.” She had to literally push him away. That’s when he noticed his own feet covered in blood. There was all this blood, but he couldn’t
There were cars, toy robots, stuffed toys. All these options and she does not know what Liam might like. How stupid she felt thinking that one memory of her holding her son was enough validation of her mother’s instinct. She couldn’t even ask Nikolai because she treated him like an asshole yesterday. That wasn’t part of the plan. Part of her goal was the vague idea that she shouldn’t be making any mistakes. Talking to him felt like a wrong move and in the end, she ended up ignoring him.The feeling of regret lingers whenever she closes her eyes and recalls how he was physically hurting. She should have at least offered to help. This is why she can't trust herself around Nikolai. She becomes unpredictable because of her own unpredictable feelings too. Now, she'll look at him with admiration even when tries not to. Next thing she knows, she's being a bitch and acts cold.“Hi. I’m sorry. Do you need help?” A man with bright blue eyes spoke to her. His eyes were really captivating. It rem
Belle smiled at the few staff who recognized her. She tried not to grab anyone’s attention. Okay, maybe a little. She may have kept her silence, but she has been possessed with her flair for the dramatic. She wore the perfect black dress, hugging her curves perfectly, and dark red lipstick like a typical movie villain. She contemplated adding sunglasses but thought nah, that would be too much. She knew coming here at the law firm would be a hot issue in the making. People love to gossip as what can be observed with every eye trying to follow her every move subtly. She hasn’t left the area, but they are already whispering. For the first time after a long time, she didn’t care. It was nice to feel liberated even in this last stage of her short-lived marriage. It was a marriage that made whispering feel like screaming.Ah, there they are. She thought, spotting the conference room with glass windows. Perfect. She opened the glass door with a wide grin, showing her perfect set of white te
“Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Laurent.” Belle wasn’t nervous… or at least, this is what she kept telling herself while earlier, she was looking at the mirror, combing her hair. Even after changing her mind for what felt like the hundredth time, she is still unsure if she chose the right dress. Heck, she was even nervous thinking about what type of makeup look she would be wearing today. There was no need for her to please the parents. Her actions, however, say otherwise. It was hard to show a sweet smile, but she managed just fine. On the inside, there was an uneasy feeling, an internal chaos she wouldn’t like to admit was happening. Their presence made her almost forget that Nikolai was in the same room. It was surprising to see Oliver Laurent smile. Nikolai has consistently described him as a strict father growing up, giving her the image of a grumpy old man. Adeline’s fake smile was easy to spot, on the other hand. It was a contrast to the intense stare Belle couldn’t help but no
