Chapter 4

Roberto's eyes dilated as he stared at the dude standing beside Lucia.

He was upset, but Lucia failed to notice it. Her hand trailed over the car's Bonnet and then she fixed her gaze on the guy who brought her to school.

"Thanks for the ride! And it was nice meeting you!" See you later," she said with a wave of the hand as she dispersed from him. She was walking towards the lecture theater while he wanted to get something from the school shop.

Lucia walked past Roberto had not gone past when he pulled her into his with his left hand and made her body tingle when it came in contact with his.

“What's up with you Lucia? How have you been faring since yesterday and why are you standing with that guy? Is he your boyfriend?" He asked, without giving her the chance to answer any of those.

“Shouldn't you take a break with your questions, Mr. Roberto? You have asked me about four questions in sequential orders and I haven't reached to answer any of them because I'm not going to. you Can ask my questions, later, when I'm not rushing to catch up with professor Chris's class.

"Alright. would see you later..." He said as she walked past, staring at her like she was some goddamn goddess of beauty. it drew him in and he basked in the pleasure it gave him.

Lucia couldn't imagine what fate awaits her once she reaches the lecture theatre. He probably would pretend not to know her, so he can unleash my anger and hatred on them.

She strode at a deafening pace towards the lecture theatre, she was sure, would be filled with over a thousand people.

The class rep stood transfixed to a spot, waiting for the last comers like her, to come in. He had a smile laced at the corner of the left side of his mouth while his right was basked with a frown that made him look older than his age.

"Good morning rep!" She greeted and was about to move into the Hall when his hand rested on her shoulder. She turned and met the brighter smile with all gladness.

“Good morning Lucia! Please sign the time you stepped in, the admission number, matric number, and your department!" He said, Handing her a pen to write down her name.

She did and then heaved a sigh of relief. she was about to go in when something struck her and she considered it right to ask.

"Sorry, can I ask you a question?" She asked with all politeness she could muster in the world.

“And what question would that?” he asked, upset that she was going to be disturbing his lecture.

“I can't seem to see professor Chris anywhere. My gaze has darted around the room but he still isn't here," Lucia asked praying with desperation that it was what she hoped it was.

“Didn't you hear the news? Professor Chris has been placed on suspension and possibly he would be sacked.

“Oh my goodness! That's so sad! what to do. And why did he get suspended?" Lucia asked again. She wanted to get enough information to keep her busy for the whole day.

"The Senate discovered that he was the reason the student who committed suicide early this year did. He lied against her."

"Wow! That's strange! I pray God helps him in this one!" She said and hurried into the theatre. She greeted the lecturer and then hurried to her seat.

The freshers of the university were all in their various lecture rooms, receiving lectures. There were almost a thousand of them in the department.. Business administration. That was the course Roberto was about to study, to make him know proper administration of business before he takes over his family business.

"I would like you to get something for me later on, but I would call once it's time," he said to his chauffeur who responded with a slight bow.

"Good!" He said and walked towards his lecture venue with an air of confidence and pride. He noticed the way people stared at him and then yelled when they realized he was Roberto Avanti, the son of the billionaire.

They tripped and it made Roberto's ego shoot up. “Roberto!" Some of them who were brave enough called from where they stood. He didn't reply to any of them and continued his walk to the theatre.

He got to the front of the theater and met a guy wearing a white round-neck shirt over a denim Jean.

“Good morning! Can you please write your name in the attendance?" The guy asked with all the courtesy in the world.

He stared at the guy with disdain and felt like Landing him a slap.

The guy repeated with the thought that he didn't get what he said.

“Damn you! Who are you to tell me what to do!" He roared, attracting the attention of the lecturer and the about three hundred students in the hall.

The lecturer called him in with a snap of the finger, making Roberto a little upset. No one had ever dared call him in that manner. Those were for servants. He walked majestically to where the lecturer stood. He stood still like a statue, offering not even a greeting to the man of repute in front of him.

He knew him and had heard of him, but he gave no damn about it.

“Here I am!" He said when the man said nothing after keeping him standing for almost a minute. The lecturer shook and was unable to do anything because he still love his job. He knew the Avantis and the web of connections they have. It is incomparable.

“You may go have your seat!" The lecturer said and watched the frenzy that was breaking out in his class. Girls shrieked, boys whispered. Never in their life had they imagined that the son of the richest billionaire in the United States would study in such a school.

“Why did he study here? Why couldn't he just go to Harvard, or Massachusettes institute of technology, or anywhere else than here!" A guy of about twenty-one said to his clique, who called themselves the ultimate five.

Those, before the arrival of Roberto, had held the position of richest kid in the college. Three years at the University but were still in their first year. They kept failing and failing and it moved them not an inch.

“I don't know! He should have stayed out of this college. With the arrival of this guy, our fame will wane," another member of the clique said.

“This is the end of today's class. See you tomorrow same time," the lecturer said and went out. The hall went Gaga with excitement as they clustered around Roberto like he was some Honeypot.

Roberto felt nauseous and stressed by their loud chattering. He was saying hi to the ones who looked nice and pretty when his gaze fell on the ultimate five.

He recognized one of them. He was the richest of them all. “Aren't you the son of Mr. Edward?" Roberto asked with a sarcastic grin.

“Yes, I am!" The guy responded with a frown that made him look like a clown.

“Oh, I didn't know! Your dad even came over to my office yesterday and was trying to canvas for the hundred million dollars project but I had to turn him down because it had been given out already. Help pass my message to him when you get home," Roberto said and walked away.

He did what he did on purpose to put the guy in his place. He saw the way he sat still while others flocked around him. It pained him and he decided to bring him down.

“Damn him! WTF did he do? Did he do that on purpose?" One of them said with shame. He was the lowest on the team. If the head who was the richest could be ridiculed in that manner, then what about himself whose family is rich by a few million.

“Yeah! I think he did that to show that he's the richest guy on campus!”

"We should teach him a lesson he would never forget!"

“Yeah! I agree with you!"

Lucia's class had just finished. She stepped out to wait for Jackson who was speaking with the lecturer in the hall. Her eyes darted around, as she whistled. She was lost in deep thought, that overwhelmed her.

She was thankful that she wasn't in her human form when the police saw her else her face would have been all over the newspapers and magazines. It would mean the end of her and didn't her father say she had to live. "Yes, I have to live."

She had stood for almost five minutes and her legs were starting to ache. She made to go call Jackson from inside when she saw he was coming already, chattering loudly.

“You don't realize you kept me waiting or am I some sort of inanimate object that doesn't feel pain?" She asked with pouted lips, the moment he stood beside her.

“Yes, you know you don't feel pain! You never did!" He said and they both burst into laughter. They meandered across the pavement leading to the large compound, gesticulating at the peak of their voice.

They hadn't gone far when a group of guys walked up to them.

Jackson froze when he saw them.

"How far Jackson! How are you doing?" A tall fair guy asked with a sadistic grin that sent shivers down Jackson's spine. He was Fred, the beta of the pack Jackson belonged to.

“I.. am... okay." He said, stuttering uncontrollably. Lucia felt irritated by his fear and decided to do the talking.

“Eii.. who are you? And I don't care what you are! All I know is that you should stop bullying my friend. The day you dare it again, I'm gonna treat your fuck up!" She threatened, with a clenched fist.

“And who is this bitch threatening me?" Fred said and regretted it immediately. Lucia landed him a blow across the face. He fell to the floor.

“Let's go, Jackson!" She said, pulling him with her.

“That was brave of you Deborah! Who you punched back there is the beta of my pack!" Jackson Said, expecting Lucia to fidget.

“I don't give a damn who he is? I don't care if he's the son of a billionaire..." She froze. A tall figure approached her.

“Hi, Lucia! What's up with you?" He asked. It was Roberto Avanti.

She felt pissed by his presence. The events of the previous night flooded her head. She remembered the people she killed because of him.

"What do you want From me?" She asked with a thick frown plastered on her face.

“Come on! You should stop being so saucy! Can I speak with you?" He asked, flashing her a bright smile that made girls except for Lucia trip for him.

“I'm sorry but I have no interest in speaking with you!" She hissed and walked away from him.

He pulled her into him, allowing her body to rub his crotch. “I already asked you to stop being so saucy!" He held her and was about to plant a kiss on her face when she pushed him away from her and landed a resounding slap on his cheek.

“How dare you, Lucia!" He asked, clutching his cheek tightly.

“I am Lucia! And I would do it again if you push me to the wall!” she said and dashed off.

He gazed around and his eyes fell on over three hundred students who gathered round just to see Roberto. His face became flooded with embarrassment and he prayed for the ground to swallow him. His prayer wasn't answered.

“Damn! I'm going to make you pay for this! For embarrassing me!" He vowed.

"Let's go," he said to his bodyguards.
