Emma woke up with a jerk as the doors of the dungeon closed shut. As she blinked, the vision before her cleared to reveal a man coming toward her. She thought she had seen him before, but she wasn’t sure. He was surely one of Jamie’s men, and most likely, he was here to punish her like the rest of them.
When the man approached her inside her cell, Emma was taken aback from the smirk of his face. Unlike other men, he didn’t regard her with disgust or anger. Instead, he seemed to be amused by something, and she couldn’t fathom what about her situation he found funny.
“So you’re the one, huh?” He asked, arms crossed in front of him. “Who has been giving our boss sleepless nights.”
