24: She will be marked tomorrow

I slowly brought my eyes open. My ears still hurt, I sat up in pain and tried to figure out where I was. I was surrounded by nothing but stones.

The only source of light was from twigs that were burning in the center of where I was. Looking at the exit, I realised this was a cave.

Alpha crouched at the entrance, walking in with more twigs.

"You're up," he said, not bothering to look at me and focusing his attention on the fire and adding the new gathered twigs to it. He was shirtless, his hair packed up in a bun and his black pants hung against his skin.

My eyes trailed up his back. He had scar marks all over him. My heart dropped. He must have hurt himself when he saved me.

I was glad to know my hearing was back by now.

"You're hurt." I said in a low voice, he still paid no attention to me.

"Why did you come?" I said after a while of maintaining silence, "if you didn't, Fred wouldn't be dead now."

"He's not dead," I could hear the anger in his voice.

"You killed him." I reminded him,
