Chapter 2: King Patrick.

PRINCE DAVID POV

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I stood among the palace official in the royal court with my eyes staring in the direction of the throne.

Princess Melissa sat at her seat beside her father looking as beautiful as ever. Ever since the moment I met her, I couldn't get her out of my head, she was so beautiful that I made sure she was promised to me in marriage, me and no one else.

I frown in anger when my eyes took notice of general George beside the king's throne. He stood proudly in his uniform with his chest puff out and his hands on the handle of his sowrd that was stuck to his belt. He was all business with his stone expression and threatening stance. I hated him for looking so powerful.

There was no doubt that princess Melissa had took noticed of his manliness and worthiness on several occasions. It always scared me to leave her all alone when returning to Rault. What if General George uses that as an opportunity to steal my beloved princess away from me. The thought scared me to the bones and I made sure that my time in Rault was always very short so I can return to my princess.

The Queen's seat on the King's right hand was empty and I figured she must be on another luxurious visit to another part of the world.

A full forty minutes later, we were still standing in silence. The king wasn't saying a word and even the officials remain silent, some of them were actually shaking in fear. It made me even more curious as to what must be going on.

Back at the arena, General George looked shaken up by whatever the King's messeger must have whispered in his ears and it threw me off a bit because I have never seen the General looking so worried and panicked.

What could be going on?

Fed up with the silence, I opened my mouth to speak my mind to the king when the doors of the royal court squeaked loudly as they were pulled open.

All eyes including mine turn towards the doors.

A long black haired man in a black cloak and breeches. He was wearing nothing under his cloak leaving his body bare and the long scar that trail from his left chest to his navel.

He walked forward towards the king's throne with his head held high and his grey eyes cold and emotionless. His face was deprived of any emotion and I did not miss the way the officials took down loud gulps and also the nervous expression on the king's face. Even the General seem a bit uncomfortable with the presence of this new comer.

Who is he?

"Greetings King Collins" The mysterious man bowed before the king although it seem more like a mere nod of acknowledgement to me. "I am King Patrick of Evergreen"

My eyes widen in shock and murmurs of fear and surprise filled the court.

King Patrick of Evergreen?

What in the world brought this monstrous king to the Windfall kingdom. From what I know, king Patrick has never been one to pay visit to other kingdoms except to pronounce war and even then his ambassadors were present on his behalf not himself in person. His lack of sociality among other nation were the reason no one knew what the young king really look like but rumors had it that he was a terrifying figure to behold and I couldn't agree more.

He had won many wars, captured many cities and enslave many citizens. Kingdoms fear his existence, King's stand terrified when unfortunate to fall in his wrath. Everyone who knew the young king knew he would only bring trouble where ever he sets his foot.

King Collins smiled at the introduction but the nerves in his expression were still very visible. "It is an honour to have you here King Patrick, but a warning on your arrival would have been a big help to welcome you properly"

"There will be no need for that," his calm cold voice thundered in the silence sending chills down my spine and judging from the others reaction around me, I could tell that they also felt the same "for I have not come here to cause any trouble for you your majesty nor have I come to be entertained" his cold eyes looked in Melissa's direction and my heart beat picked up as I suddenly got an idea of what this king was here for, but I remain silent to let him go on "I was looking through my late father's documents when I came across and agreement he made with you in the past" a tall man dressed in a long expensive looking robe handed a scroll to King Patrick "the agreement state that when your first daughter is of age, she will be given to me in marriage"

"Impossible!!!" My lips moved before I could stop them forcing the attention on me "you cannot just walk in here and speak nonsense. Princess Melissa was promised to me for years now and I am her bethrot"

King Patrick barely glance at me before turning his attention back to the king. "An agreement was made to prevent war at that time king Collins and I must warn you that if my bride isn't given to me, I shall pronounce war on your kingdom and not only the east Kingdom of Windfall but I shall destroy every part of it"

Gasp of fear filled the court and my clench fist shook beside me. "War or not princess Melissa belongs to me" I moved closer to the throne so I could face the king properly "my father will not let it go if my bethrot is given to another. Our kingdoms might have been friends for decades but that won't stop us from becoming enemies if she is given to another"

The king's face was filled with panic and dilemma and I felt a bit sorry for putting him in this situation but I couldn't help it nor could I let it go so easily. I can't just seat back and watch another moron try to take my bethrot from me. One annoying cocky general is enough.

My eyes found the beautiful face of my lovely princess and I was shocked to see that she looks amused and I did not like how she was looking at King Patrick like he was a piece of cooked beef. It made my blood boil in anger.

General George looked like he wanted to tear both our heads off but he remain still by the king's side.

"There should be no cause for arguments Prince David. I shall make sure that this matter is resolved but not right now" he glance at his general beside him "ask the servants to clear up my study. Prince David, King Patrick, Melissa and you as well general should be present there in the next twenty minutes, there is something important that we must discuss"

"Yes your majesty" the General bowed.

"As for now, this court is dismissed" The king stood up along with Melissa and we all bowed in respect except king Patrick of course until the king disappeared through the back door.

King Patrick was the first to leave and everyone else was too scared to move along and instead allowed him to make an exit first.

I glared after him in utter rage and hate. The the hell does he think he is to demand my bride as his

I will rather die fighting than allow the princess to be given to anyone but me.
