Finally peace

I stretch out on the lounge chair in our backyard, the warm Texas sun bathing my skin in a golden glow. The gentle breeze rustles the leaves of the oak tree overhead, and for the first time in what feels like forever, peace settles in my bones. Blue lies at my feet, his ears twitching occasionally as he naps.

Almost completely recovered now I can’t believe I actually died, like full on kicked the bucket… Calix sent me six feet under, well metaphorically, luckily no one buried me. The others explained how Hadley brought me back.

"Hey, lazy wolf," Hadley's melodic voice breaks through the serene silence. I tilt my head back to see her standing at the back door, a playful smile dancing on her lips. Despite all we have been through, that smile never fails to make my heart race.

"Hey yourself, songbird," I reply, grinning. "Come join me. The sun feels amazing."

She walks over, it is like she has gained a new confidence in herself, a connection to her true self and her sirene
