The packhouse was dark, only a handful of wolves were moving in the halls and it wouldn’t make a difference if I shifted back into human form and ran to my room naked. The problem was that wolves have night vision.

‘Are you okay, Kat?’

I grunted, curling myself in a ball as Melora went up to our room, walking slowly and making sure she didn’t draw any attention to us. But that was pretty hard when you’re a golden wolf and you’re shining like the f*cking sun.

‘Am I okay? Do I look okay to you?!’

‘Sorry,’ she said, sounding like she just rolled her eyes.

‘Can you believe him? How dare he… I mean… ugh! I should’ve known better. This is all my fault.’

‘Yup.’

‘No! You should be comforting me… or something.’

‘Err… which part of ‘don’t say I didn’t warn you’ didn’t you understand?’
