Chapter Twenty

(Lena's POV)

My mother watched me with hateful eyes and a snare on her lips.

"You!" she called out. It was just a single word, but I could almost 'taste' the anger from that one single word, and it went deep.

"Yes Felica. Me"

"What am I doing here?" she asked, not Damien, but me.

"I guess we are about to find out."

Damien nodded to one of the guards who unlocked the cell with shaky hands; his hands had been so unsteady that the silver on the locks gave him a slight burn.

If Damien noticed the guard's behavior, he didn't acknowledge it.

The guard stepped back, and I also noticed that the guard looked everywhere but at me. I walked into the cell, and Damien walked in next.

From the look on my mother's face, she might have rushed at me, but she isn't that stupid to make that move, not with Damien here. Little did she know that I could take care of myself well; I wasn't the weak Lena she remembered or believed I still was.

"Everyone leave." Damien ordered the guards outside, and they look
