Chapter 23

The door banged and I looked up in alarm realization dawning on me about what I had done. 

"Elaine,  don't go please,"I cried in anguish as I went for the door. 

Once I reached the door,  I couldn't get myself to turn the door knob and instead slid down bringing my knees to my chest. 

I was a royal pain in the ass,  having a toll on everybody yet they were going through a dark place. 

I looked down to see some liquid dropping down on my hands, tears. This was the acceptance stage. I finally realized she was gone and never coming back. Whether I liked it or not,  I had to deal with it. Deal with my grief.

"Twain,  Twain, "

"Mama, is that you?" I called with hope burrowing through my heart. 

"Come, "

"Where? I asked getting up. 

I looked around the room for her but all I could see was my rumpled bed,  a small impression visible on the comforter where I had fallen asleep
