Chapter 30

Xavier had seen Yvette's medical records from four years ago. He knew that she had suffered from severe depression, and he had tried to understand the disorder before.

Indeed, it could cause the deterioration of memory, but there was no evidence that the patient could forget an entire person!

They had known each other for over a decade!

When Xavier said nothing, Yvette asked, "Are you one of the people who'd hurt me before? If you're not, then why don't I remember you?"

Those words felt like a stab at Xavier. His voice was cold as he said, "You must be overthinking things, Ms. Snyder. We were just ships that passed through the night."

Xavier had thought it through now. Since Yvette wanted to pretend, he would let her. After all, he had never thought of them as husband and wife to begin with.

Before Yvette left, Xavier had someone sign the partnership contract with her. When he returned to his office, he began to smoke cigarette after cigarette again.
