I recoiled, not realising that I had pushed my own thoughts into her mind as I looked through her conscious thoughts; how could I find out who the traitors were in this meeting if I couldn’t read their minds unnoticed?

I rubbed my cheek as I stepped back, unsure what I could say to make her believe otherwise; I couldn’t deny it, she knew I was in her mind and I was a terrible liar. My heart lurched as she growled, would she harm me further?

Would she tell the prince that I was in her mind without permission? What would he say if she did tell him, would he be happy that I could find my way into her thoughts, or mad that I failed to do it unnoticed? I had done it before unnoticed and strong, so why did I fail to do so now? Why couldn’t I read her thoughts without being caught?
