Chapter 39

Sansa's POV

Ray's face was contorted with perplexity, his mind racing to make sense of the situation. He hurled the knife toward Xavier in a desperate attempt to flee, but the blade unexpectedly soared toward me, leaving me wide-eyed and breathless. Xavier lunged fast to intercept the knife, only one inch away from my vulnerable eyes.

I was breathing heavily and sweat was all over my face as if Xavier had shielded me from the blade, even though I knew the blade would pass over me without injuring me, and I was still astonished.

His voice resonated with a disconcerting depth as Xavier spoke, his words resonating through the air. "If you don't want to meet the same fate, cut the rope and bid farewell to your father."

Ray was held in place by his love for his father and his fear of Xavier's wrath. He paused, unable to do the unthinkable.
