Chapter 30

Sansa's POV

The perfume of ancient books and the quiet crackling of the candle flame created a pleasant atmosphere. In direct contrast to the rest of the ship, it was a refuge amid the chaos that surrounded us. The energy flowing from Xavier's room couldn't help but draw me in.

My gaze was fixed on Xavier as I sat in the chair, a mixture of worry and intrigue churning within me. The atmosphere was oppressive, as well as loaded with unsaid tension. As Xavier closed the door, my breathing became heavy, tortured by the remaining memories of my dreams—dreams that mingled the gloom of his presence with the forced intimacy we experienced.

My nerves tingled with fear as a wave of discomfort pushed me to rise from my chair. The cat walked around the room, a silent witness to Xavier and my complex dynamics. Xavier gently gathered the cat into his arms and placed it on the bed, speaking soothing words to himself as well as the cat.
