MELIA POVThis has been the worst week of my life. I thought I was winning over most of the pack members at this point. I show up to training earlier than anyone else, I'm powerful with and without my magic, I can keep up with the Elite warriors during training, I make it a point to be friendly, and remember everyone's name that I meet, even the omegas. But ever since Alpha August's knuckle draggers have been cracking down and enforcing the new rule of not allowing anyone to leave the pack territory everyone has been pissed and for whatever reason they're taking it out on me. I was supposed to be sparring for my Sentinel spot this morning and I have a shitty feeling it's not going to go as easy as I expect.I was up early enough to walk to the training field this morning and I decided to do it without any company. I wanted to get some extra stretching in and practice my combos a little more before anyone else arrived.I made it to the field and started stretching but it wasn't long un
MELIA POV "Melia, you can't go shimmering me around without telling me beforehand. I wanted to congratulate your sister on winning her new Sentinel spot and I didn't get a chance before you rudely interrupted." "I'm sorry Alpha but we have several important things that need urgent tending to. First, your new rule of no one leaving the pack is causing everyone to hate me. Second, your rule of never questioning ranked members in public is bullshit. Third, how are Margot's bracelets controlling her? Is she going with us to get her chrysoprase stone? Will she be able to go through her awakening? Fourth, how are we going to stop my new vampire friend from using pack members as puppets? Lastly, Brandy was using black magic during our sparring match. I don't know if she knows she was using it or not." "Wait, what? How do you know she was using black magic?" "My amethyst stone glows when I come into contact with dark magic." I lifted my bracelet for him to see my amethyst charm dangling f
MELIA POV Mom shimmered in bright and early the next morning. Of course she was just as chipper as usual, overly excited about our awakening happening in just two days. She happily fluttered around my room like a beautiful butterfly opening all the curtains letting in an exacerbating amount of light. "Mom please I've only gotten a couple hours of sleep last night and if I'm going to be productive at all today I need a few more hours of sleep." "I'm sorry honey but I will crash soon and you won't get to see me until late tomorrow evening so get up and have breakfast with your mama. There is a lovely garden here behind the pack house that we can get comfy in. I think I even saw a hammock or two out there the last time I was here. We could always take a nap in them just like old times." "Fine. Mama but only because Alpha August won't like it." I removed my pillow that was covering my face. "Great! You get dressed and I'll have breakfast waiting for you out back." Mom was gone just as
MELIA POV Mom woke up well rested sooner than she expected and was now demanding to see Margot so she could make sure she was getting better. Unfortunately, Alpha August forbade anyone to release Margot’s location and of course he was still MIA at this point. I was afraid mom was going to take off Thomas’s head and Lenny was trying to ease the tension between them too. I personally was hoping she would take his head off. “Where is August? Why in the hell can’t you answer any of my questions?” Mom scolded Thomas. “Athena . . “ “High Priestess” Mom corrected. “High Priestess, Alpha August is recovering and should be available shortly.” Thomas was getting tired of explaining himself. “We need to leave for the Coven as soon as possible and if he isn’t here in the next hour I’ll tear this pack limb from limb until I find my daughter.” My mother threatened. “Is that a threat? Are you threatening our pack because if you are you will be escorted to a holding cell until the Alpha return
MELIA POV I definitely stayed up way to late last night trying to fill Roxy in on everything going on at the pack so I was grateful when Mrs. Wilson insisted on everyone having a Bifrost tea at breakfast. The morning kind of passed by in a blurr with everyone talking and asking questions. Alpha August was really interested in creating a greenhouse where Mrs. Wilson could teach someone to grow the tea leaves needed to create her infamous Bifrost tea and Mrs. Wilson seemed interested. She was even talking about Jeanie being the one that she taught but they were interrupted when Lenny and the pack warriors had arrived at the front gate. Alpha August promised Mrs. Wilson they would continue their conversation before he made his way to the front gate. Mom and dad went to make sure there were enough cleaned cabins for the pack warriors to be comfortable while they stayed with us. Thankful that everyone's attention was on other priorities I shimmered to my room for a nap but it wasn’t long
MELIA POV A scream of pure terror ripped through the night's air followed by a menacing growl that sent a shiver down my spine. "Rogues." Someone screamed from a distance. "Get the elders to the coven house." Mom yelled at the inner court members. "Girls protect Nana, Abuela and Mrs. Wilson. Get them to safety." Mom ordered. "Girls join hands" Nana grabbed hold of Abuela and Mrs. Wilson. "I'm staying to fight." Margot had a look of determination on her face. "Do you got her back?" I asked Maisie. "Always." Maisie nodded and grasped Margot's hand, ready and willing to move mountains to keep her safe. I grabbed a hold of Kira and Lily which were holding onto Vera, and Mrs. Wilson. I nodded at Nana helping her shimmer them all to the coven house. The inner court members and the rest of the Elders barely beat us there. "Please everyone go to your own cabins just in case one of them would get infiltrated. We wouldn’t want all the council members to die together due to careless
ALPHA AUGUST POV"I hate being trapped in this goddess-forsaken cabin, not knowing what the hell is going on," I grumbled in frustration.“The Witch Council would have our heads if they knew we were here; we are way out of our league here on the coven’s territory.” Lenny so annoyingly reminded me.I threw my hands in the air and turned on my heels, making a beeline for the kitchen. I opened the fridge and was greeted with beer, mac and cheese, and a huge rack of ribs. Man, the woman knows the key to my heart," I thought as a smile tugged at my lips. I started pulling everything out of the fridge before I adjusted the temperature of the oven. “We might as well eat if we were stuck in for the night.” I handed Lenny a beer. After Lenny and some of our finest pack warriors arrived at the coven, Athena and Baine showed us to our cabins, where we could make ourselves comfortable for the night. With the Witch Council scheduled to arrive this evening to participate in both the chrysoprase ce
AUGUST POV We finally got the upperhand and the remaining neonates and rogues retreated but Melia and Roxy were nowhere to be found. “Lenny you better make sure no one gets away and I want as many captives alive and in our custody as possible.” “Yes, Alpha.” “And Lenny, you better not fail me again.” I growled. “August I did everything I could, the neonates were on the Matt kid like flies on dog shit. We couldn’t even see there were so many surrounding us and the other warriors were getting the elderly and children to safety like Melia ordered.” “You don’t take fucking orders from Melia. No one does. She isn’t your Alpha, I am. Do you understand me.” Bishop pushed through and had Lenny up off the ground by his neck. “Yes, Alpha.” He squeaked out breathlessly. “Now find my fucking daughter and she better be alive without one fucking hair out of place.” Bishop threw him to the ground like discarded trash. I wanted to help my friend but Bishop already had more control than I wan
