After that cryptic message from the man, he continued to loosen the ropes binding me.

"I don't need your help," I repeated to him. He ignored me and continued with his task. I knew I was acting like a wench for acting like I was ungrateful to the man, but I was indeed ungrateful. How could someone act as both the messiah and the killer at the same time? I didn't want such a person in my life. If dying was the way to prove my integrity, then so be it.

He finished untying me, and I made to move away from him. I stumbled backward, and my legs gave way before I could control myself. I cursed the weakness that assaulted me and also cursed myself for taking such rash decisions when I should have known that I might face such consequences. Apart from not eating for days, I was tied to a spot, and my legs already felt like there was no longer any life in them. Yet, I had risked it.
