Damon's POV

The two of them fell on their knees, and that somehow got me more irritated than knowing that they had acted out with Evie. Why would anyone do or say something that they couldn't own up to boldly?

"I believe that I asked you both a question!" I yelled at them.

"It was my fault," Evie said suddenly.

Far more than the anger of knowing that these two people bullied her, I was angry that she allowed herself to be the stand-in for their misgivings. Was it because she was now confident that I wouldn't touch her anymore? Was that why she was standing in the gap for these people?

"How is it your fault?! Why do you have to cover for these people who insulted you?!" I yelled again.

"But -"

"- If you continue to defend them, I am going to make sure that the punishment they get becomes double," I warned her. As expected, she clasped her mouth shut instantly. I turned back to the two defaulters and hissed so loudly at them. "You," I said, pointing to the woman. "Gather everyone here
