Mating bond.

Damon's P.O.V

My heart sank in my stomach as I followed the scent that made my inner wolf growl aggressively. Every step I took made my heart shatter into pieces as her scent pulled me further.

I was only doing this for my inner wolf, only for him.

It was barely three minutes before I stepped out of my room and my wolf began to growl within me. I had no idea why but he would not stay still which made me bothered.

"Leo," I tried communicating with him countless times, but he would not respond.

I ignored it anyway and continued to work on the study where I wanted to check on some documents.

My Beta, Stephan, had dropped loads of files that according to him needed approval. If the files were possibly what he could handle, then I would have left it. But sadly, it was not.

A dispute had been going on about the Lumber mill that belonged to me.

Alpha River of the moonlight pack had the mind to say it belonged to him. The only reason I had not devoured him was because I was certain my actions were being watched, and according to Stephan, it was in no way the best thing to do.

Asides that, news came that some wolves were attacked and got injured. With the information I got, they were all alive and attended to at the packs hospital.

It only made me wonder who had dared attack my people, and I wished with all of me that it was not Alpha River. Because if it was so, I will definitely come at him with the anger that had stayed within me for the months the Lumber mill had been dragged.

That day was not one of my best day, so I only wished my wolf was not trying to make things any worse. His groanings was definitely not helping in any bit.

Usually, whenever my mood swings in this direction, Stephan will send one of the female wolves to my room to satisfy me and I was hoping he did the same today.

But because of the constant growling, I took a deter and began to walk towards the scent.

Some things were unavoidable and going for what my wolf was calling out for was just one of the things.

Walking through the hallways, my heart thumped hard in my chest. It wasn't because of joy but because of anger mixed with sadness.

I never wanted this moment and I have never desired this moment. But the way my inner wolf growled and the effect her scent had on me took control of my senses till I found myself standing in front of Cornel's door.

I paused on my track for a second, thinking about why the scent grew stronger here. Was Cornel my mate?

As I got lost in my thoughts, I heard a loud scream that suddenly jolted me back to reality. The scream I heard was not a scream of delight but a scream of pain mixed with fear.

My wolf growled angrily as I suddenly flung the door open and glanced at where the scream erupted from.

My eyes grew wide in shock as I caught Cornel trying to force himself on a woman. In anger, I grabbed the flower vase on the stand next to me and hurled it on his head till it shattered to pieces.

I had no idea what I was doing, but it did not feel like what I will do on a very normal day.

My heartbeat increased rapidly as I clenched my fist by my side and watched as he collapsed on the bed with his hands sprawled by his sides.

I had killed Cornel, and within me I was already regretting.

The scent I followed evaded my senses but now, it was more stronger and fiercer. I glanced at the woman Cornel tried to force himself on as she wrapped her arms round her torn cloth where her firm breast peered from.

I felt every part of my body, crumble in defeat as I locked eyes with her for a moment.

My wolf snarled more fiercely, screaming for me to take her in my arms and devour her on sight. At that moment, I knew she was my mate.

Even though it has been long since I set my eyes on her, I never forgot about her and most importantly, I never forgot her name.

"Evie."

I felt a sudden surge of anger rise inside of me even though my wolf tried to suppress it.

Now it pained me the more that because of a human, one I have made a slave already, I killed a wolf like me.

If I play my cards well, I was going to take myself out of that mess. But this girl sitting right here would never and can never be my mate. She wasn't even a wolf but a bloody human.

The Moon Goddess must be playing a trick on me.

Anger rushed through my skin as I glared angrily at her. How dare she activate my mate bond?

"Da... Damon" I heard her stutter as her eyes glistened with tears.

Every damn thing about this woman irritated me. Her tears, the way she called me.

Wait a sec, how dare she call me by name?

Without thinking twice, I walked over to her side and grabbed her by the wrist, yanking her off the bed. I tightened my grip around her wrist till she let out a soft whimper, with confusion seething in her eyes.

She wrapped her other hand around her chest as I pulled her behind me. While she continuously struggled to remove my tight grip around her wrist.

Everyone went on with their business as I pulled Evie but I was sure they stared back at me when I was now few steps away from them.

"Why are you doing this?" I heard her say but I didn't respond.

She yelped in pain as thorns pierced through her bare foot. I intentionally made her pass through that place in a bit to torture her because how dare she become my mate!

The gates that led to my house opened as the servants lowered their heads in reverence. I flung the main door of my house open as her loud cry intensified, cussing loud at me.

It was the audacious act for me.

When I got into the living room, I released my grip on her arm and walked towards my room, searching around with my eyes for the whip I kept, especially for disrespectful slaves like her.

She sat on the floor, wincing, removing the thorns that pierced deep into her foot. She slowly raised her head and trembled at the sight of the whip in my hand.

I noticed Evie attempt to crawl away from me but before she could succeed, the whip landed on her back as she let out a loud scream.

She struggled to raise herself and to take to her heels. But I sent the whip down on her back again as she crumbled to the floor.

I whipped her all over her body till her flesh tore open and blood gushed out of it.

When I saw the immense pain that she was in, I released my grip around the whip as it fell to the floor. I sat on the couch across her and watched as she curled herself up in a fetal position while her hair fell all over face.

A deafening silence enveloped the room, the only sound I heard were of her soft whimpers. She has been in the same position for minutes and one would think that she had given up the ghost if not for her whimpers.

Me developing this sudden hatred towards her was because of the mate bond between us. It should have never happened in the first place.

"Get up now!" I commanded as she slowly leaped up, quivering in fear.

"You would stay in my house from now on,” I said as her fingers began to tremble. "Understand?" I yelled.

Instead of responding to my question, she asked me another question, "Damon, why are you doing this?"

"What did you just call me now?"

"Damon.” She said with tears in her eyes.

I stood up and picked up the whip as she struggled to scamper for safety. Every step she took made her groan in pain.

I raised my hand and allowed the whip land on her skin again, but with more intensity this time. She crumbled to the floor and clasped her hands, pleading for mercy.

"Am I Damon to you?" I whipped her again.

"No" She shook her head vehemently.

"What am I to you?”

"Master!" She screamed out.

I threw the whip aside on hearing her say the exact words I wanted to hear. Her white top was now soaked with blood as she curled herself up in a fetal position, but she was sitting this time.

"From now on, you would be confined to this building for the rest of your life. Don't even try to think about escaping," I informed.

"The day you try to leave the walls of this house without my permission, take that day as your end."
