Chapter Eighty-Three

After dinner, Damien took her to a small bar, something a little classier than the last one he took her to, where several men groped her and fingered her while she carried drinks back and forth from the bar to the table. This one actually had a style of a sort, which also confused her. Everything Damien did tonight confused her.

The lights were low, the music soft, and the patrons few. He led them to a dark corner where they could see the dance floor, where a few couples ground against each other while whispering words of promise to one other. It wasn’t trashy. It was almost romantic, in a way. At least for a bar, it was. Again, it was another tactic to throw her off, keep her guessing, and she was guessing. So much so that she had no idea what to even say as he ordered her a glass of wine and him a whiskey.
