Your Daughter Is Dead

It was 9:40pm as Leo drove along the roads. He just had a rough day and he was feeling a little grumpy.

"Blame it on that snitch", he thought

All he knew was that he was tired and he just couldn't wait to get home and have a good rest but unfortunately things don't always go the way you want do they?

On his way he received a phone call from his dad telling him to head over to the old house immediately. He knew it must have been an emergency he could hear the urgency in his father's tone. So with a groan he turned the car around and headed straight to the old house.

At a luxurious penthouse Cassie sat on a couch reading through some files. The penthouse screamed "money" as one could easily see from all the luxurious and expensive furniture inside.

Cassie sat with the files in her hand not really studying them as her mind was occupied.

She finally sighed got up and walked to a drawer and pulled out a simple necklace that didn't look too fitting for a woman of her status to have that must have been because it wasn't hers. It was her mother's. As she held onto the necklace she felt really sad. She sat down as she recalled the incident that happened from the meeting with her dad earlier today.

*Flashback*

Earlier today at 1am she had set out for the Royal Restaurant downtown which was where she had told her dad to meet her. She remembered the hesitation she felt when she stood outside the restaurant's door. Knowing that behind the door was a past she had tried so much to forget.

Pulling herself together she opened the door and walked in her eyes searching for her father. She soon found him at the farthest corner of the restaurant. She could barely recognize him as he looked even more scrawny than the last time she saw him at her company.

"Ah", she sighed "Here goes nothing" as she swiftly made her way to were he was sitting. As soon as he saw her he waved to her. She went and sat in front of him with an expressionless face.

For a while no one said anything and they just sat there looking at each other. Each having different thoughts running through their mind.

For Cassie so many questions kept running through her mind like "Why now?", "Where have you been?", "Why did you leave in the first place?" and so much more. But she sat there expressionlessly waiting for him to speak.

Her father on the other hand kept waiting for her to say something, to ask him questions. But when he saw her just seating across from him without an expression on her face he was baffled. Baffled by how much his little girl had grown, and how cold she looked right now.

Realizing, Cassie wasn't planning on saying anything he decided to break the ice.

"You've grown so much, pumpkin"

"Pumpkin", that name kept ringing bells in Cassie's head. That was the name her father used to always call her when she was little. "He remembered?", she thought.

She kept looking at him without even a slightest change in expression even though her heart was a mess right now.

And this saddened her father a lot. But nevertheless he continued with a small smile on his face

"It feels like just yesterday when you were running around in the backyard making small sand castles and...."

"Why are you here?", she interrupted him

He looked at her and replied "Because I wanted to see you pumpkin. It's been so long and I missed you......"

"You missed me huh?", she finally smiled a little but it wasn't a pleasant smile rather if anything it looked like a devilish grin and this scared her father a little.

"Yes.. Pumpkin.. I...I missed you"

"Fifteen years. It's been fifteen years since you walked out of my life without looking back and you only just realized you missed me??!!!"

"Look, I'm sorry pumpkin I really am. I know I made some bad choices but please... Please forgive me pumpkin hm."

"Stop calling me that!!!", she raged at him.

At that point Cassie had finally broken. Sitting there across the man whom she had loved and adored so much. Who had walked out of her life without looking back and shattered her mercilessly, she broke.

"Please Cassie please listen to me. It's not what you think. Let me try to explain", her father begged

"Explain? You mean there is actually a logical explanation for abandoning your family like that? I was fifteen when you left us!! You were our pillar and you left!! Without even an explanation without even a goodbye"

"I... I", her father was dumbfounded

"Hah", she smirked "That's what I thought"

"Don't ever look for me ever again. You daughter, your pumpkin is gone. You made sure of that", she stated as she grabbed her purse and walked out leaving her father kneeling on the floor.

He had looked at her go. She wasn't willing to forgive him. At least not right now. How could he ever explain to her that he has did what he did to protect her and her mother.

* End Of Flashback*

As cold as people thought she was, Cassie had feelings no matter how hard she tried to suppress them they were there. And today she was feeling a whole lot of things pain, regret , anger, sadness and loneliness. Holding the necklace Cassie crumbled to the floor, curled into a ball and cried her eyes out. Something she hadn't done in a long time.
