Chapter 27

Before we lowered the rope I sent a flame ball down to see what we could see. Tony looked out the entrance to make sure no one was coming and we lowered the rope down until the only rope visible was leading to the anchor. I tugged on it with all the strength I had to make sure once again that it was sturdy enough for us to climb down. “Alright all set!” I called over to Tony and then looked again down the hole. “We better hurry so we don’t attract any attention to this area” Sylvia nodded and we both looked over in Tony’s direction.

“Who’s going first?” Tony asked enthusiastically. Sylvia and I looked over at each other and shrugged our shoulders. I turned my attention back over to Tony and, with my left hand; I pointed to him and smiled sweetly. He smiled back at me, “you two are chickens, you know that?” his walk then turned into a jog. We both knew that he wanted to be the first and we also knew that he was right; we were too scared to be the first ones to be down in the darkness
