Leonel's POVThe sky is beautiful, the sun is blazing hot and the birds are chirping as they dance with the wind. And there I was walking alone in a vast field with dried crops marching to where I'll possibly meet my death. And then a group of rebels appeared out of nowhere and pointed their guns at me. I did not fight, and lowered my guard down as I raised my hands to show them I mean no harm. "Kneel and put your hands behind your back!" I obeyed and kneeled on the ground, the small bits of rock biting on my skin as I did so. I raised my arm and seconds later, I was binded with a silver rope that would prevent me from shifting. When they were sure I can't fight, they lowered their guns and almost doubled over in laughter as they mock the position I'm in. "Look how the roles are reversed. The big almighty Alpha kneeling in front of us. Ain't that something to remember? Make sure you take a video of this and lots of pictures."Their phones pointed at me as they laughed, but I rem
Leonel's POV The battle between the rebel group, hunters and us ended in less than an hour. Not because we fought against weak creatures, but because we came prepared. Nile made the first line wear armor that is effective for the enemies's silver bullets and while they are busy trying to penetrate their bodies with it, the archers behind them work to kill those holding guns. And the third and last line charged with their swords and spears. Not to mention that we had bombs enough to injure those near it. Both Samson and Nile were against my idea at first saying it was risky. I know that, but we needed a distraction and a bait, and who will be better in playing the role than the one they want dead?I knew that by seeing me, they would let their guards down and they would be distracted enough to not notice their scouts dying one by one. I used myself as a distraction to the soldiers of Northridge who came from the back to rescue the hostages. I still remember how they came to me and
Klaire's POVI did not pull away nor push him away this time. Instead, my shaking hands pulled him closer by the front of his shirt to get more of him. My head is spinning at the amount of emotions I'm feeling at this moment. My stomach is doing some flips and it felt like I swallowed the whole sea by the amount of waves I'm feeling in my whole body. My whole body is swaying and light. My lips are tingling and my eyes are fluttering as I try to match his movement, but failed. It's my second kiss after all. And the first man who took it is also making me experience my second. Oh, it was bliss and surreal. I can't really explain the exact feeling I'm feeling right now. I feel lightheaded and my heart is pounding like crazy and I'm afraid he can hear it. I gasped when he tried to pull me closer by my waist to close the distance between us and I'm almost sitting on his lap. I felt him smiling into the kiss just as he caressed my back until his hand settled at the back of my head and ti
Leonel's POVThe once silent surrounding is now filled with murmurs and of course, despite his obvious weakness, Travis eventually gained his vocal chord's strength. The f*cker just doesn't know when to shut up."What do you mean no more?! Northridge has been in the community longer than any of you does! Is it not enough that you will kill me? You cannot do this to us!"From the screaming banshee, my eyes turned to Janus who's sitting calmly beside him. The exact opposite of his Alpha's behavior. "I suggest you quiet it down or we'll be forced to send you back to your cell." Farrah told Travis calmly but with a raised eyebrow and a hand on her hip. Travis was forced to sit down and I'm surprised they did not shut him up with a tape."As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted," Farrah carried on and sent a fierce glare on Travis way. "The council decided to remove Northridge from the community. Because they suffered a huge loss and because they lost more than half of their memb
Klaire's POV"Should I accompany you?" Leonel asked me while we're in his office and sneaking out like lovesick fools, and maybe we are. Outside we are strangers to each other who barely look at one another, but behind closed doors, we can't get enough of each other and we always have to be in close contact. We are currently sitting close to each other, my back against his chest and our fingers playing with each other's. A day has passed since our packs merged and the official ceremony will happen tomorrow. Before that, we requested to go back to our pack to get our things or what's left behind that is. "No, why would the Alpha personally escort us when we will only get our things? And besides... it might take some time, Leonel. Some of us will visit the graves and I'm certain there will be a lot of things to do. You won't get to relate. Northridge might have been cruel to us, but we were all born in that pack and we have to let it go.""I understand. I'll just have some of my men
Klaire's POVThe ceremony will happen today and it will take place in Mountain Peak's training field because it is the biggest place they have. It was cleaned and designed early in the morning and we all helped in decorating it. And even if it's a ceremony to welcome us and for Leonel to bind himself with us, they weren't able to stop our cooks from helping in the kitchen. I guess even if we are no longer slaves, our bodies still move automatically and I have a feeling that most of us will still choose to serve the pack. After all, they made us believe that it's our only purpose in life. It's in our blood and it's all we know. It did not take an hour before the area was ready for the ceremony. Everyone's excited as we put on the ceremonial scarves for the occasion. It is a cream-colored scarf with Mountain Peak's logo on both sides. "Hey, is it just me or a few are missing? Even the bratty princess isn't here." Pauline pointed out as we lounged around the area while we waited for t
Klaire's POVI've seen the soldiers and even the Alpha in their wolf forms, but it was only twice in my whole life. Because after all, we are forbidden to shift. Anyone who shifts without permission will be killed. That is how grave of a sin shifting was. And it's not like I can shift to my wolf. All my life, I tried to communicate with her. I can feel her at the back of my mind. I knew I was born with one, but I just don't know what the problem was. At some point, I actually thought she's not happy with her human and hates me, that's why she refuses to connect with me. I flinched at the sound of bones breaking followed by a low growl, the hair on my arms standing in fear, but I held it in. From my peripheral vision, I can see and feel the same reaction from my friends. Throughout it, my head remained bowed. I can hear him walking around us and my heart beats erratically when I know he's closer to me.Strange enough, when he was close enough, all the fear inside my body faded and I
Leonel's POV"How is everyone settling in?" I asked Samson while he's in my office and lazing around. "Oh, they settled just fine, but three of them have to stay in one space because of the lack of rooms.""I am already in contact with the carpenters and they should be able to start the houses for them this week. Don't you have anything better to do? A mate to annoy? Go take care of your child."Samson laughed and threw a piece of crumpled paper at me which I caught easily. "I am on my day off. Rish took the little sh*t to the mall today and she will visit her friend from Redmoon."I snorted at what he said. "Only you will call your child like that.""How about you, Great Alpha? Why don't you go on a date?""Why do you think I'm working double time?" I smirked and he whistled."You got it bad for the omega, man. You know I support you in every decision, but that is too risky. You know that an Alpha and Omega relationship is a taboo in the community, right? And it's not that I'm stopp
