Fear Sets In

ATHENA'S POV.

I went still on the chair in front of my dresser and Jane bowed before she walked out.

For some reason, my heart was pounding and I couldn't control how I felt. I kept on swallowing and pushing down saliva but more of them came.

My fingers felt so light, so light that they seemed to shake so easily. I didn't want to mate with him. I was unable to deny that and I guessed that was why I was having such mixed feelings.

“Stop.” I whispered to myself, as if that would stop my heart from the uproar it was in.

I blinked hard into the darkness before me and wondered again how different things would have been if I had my sight back. The window looked like it could be an ideal place for escaping.

There were bound to be places I could place my feet on to get down safely or I could have easily acted as if I was going to get something, but as I was thrown into my darkness once more, I couldn't.

I took in a deep breath, trying to calm myself as he got even closer. My hands stretch
