SAMANTHA’S POV

I flagged down a taxi and entered, "Java Inc, fourth avenue," I said. The driver smiled exposing a crooked tooth, "Alright, ma'am,"

I got to the company and started making my way to the elevator. I pushed the button rather too hard, transferring my aggression to the elevator– rather too pathetic.

The elevator ride was uncomfortable. I felt like I was being stowed in a black hole and was getting lost. I was too livid from what Lucas had done. I almost bumped into Valerie when I stepped out of the elevator.

"I'm so sorry ma'am," she gasped.

I placed my hands on her shoulders, "It's okay Emily,"

She smiled and nodded, "Would you like me to go over…"

I cut in, "No, I'd like you to get me a cup of coffee and ice water," I said, and she looked at me with a confused look.

"Okay ma'am," I'll do that. I had just appeared as a weird person in front of my subordinate. Can today get any worse?

She turned around and entered the elevator. I walked into my office, making a mental note not to look ov
