CHAPTER 9- The Mate Bond

It was already ten o'clock, yet drowsiness seemed to evade me. Seeking some relaxation, I left my room and grabbed a drink from the fridge. Dad was now resting in his room after returning from his business trip, and Alex was likely asleep, exhausted from the wedding preparations.

Thoughts of the upcoming marital union consumed my mind, along with Lara's scent—Damn! My inner wolf yearned for her, as we had adhered to the tradition of not seeing each other until the wedding day.

"Hey, are you okay?" Alex's voice startled me from behind.

"Oh, I thought you were already asleep."

"Why are you drinking alone? You should rest now. Tomorrow is your big day," Alex remarked as he settled on the couch across from me.

"Is this real, dude? Sometimes I wish it was just a dream, and I'm not truly meant to marry Lara," I mused as I poured him a glass of wine.

"You're not dreaming. Your union with Lara is set tomorrow, coinciding with this month's final full moon," Alex reassured.
