A Test For You

Debbie plans to test Abigail’s loyalty and leadership. She hires a guy name Steven to offer Abby a new job outside her company. The following day, Abby received a call from Steven asking her to meet up with him for lunch as he wants to discuss an important matter. A job offer from a leading Ads agency in another city! Her salary will be triple and all her miscellaneous will be covered. Steven told her that the offer is open to her any time. Any moment she wants to start, the job is available at her convenience.

Abby went home perplex. She likes the offer, one of the reasons she needs to earn more money is because she wants to save for her future. She had lost her possession way back several years because of her mismanagement. Abby was sent down to jail and has served two years in prison for an alleged tampering of documents.

What makes Abby’s heart sick is that, she’s in love with Debbie and she wants to marry her. The only problem she has is; she belongs to a middle class. She has no assets or wealth to share with Debbie.

What Abby did to overcome her perplexity; she focus on improving herself, her skills and she’s targeting to make a huge impact social media for CityMall - to gain more tenants and sales. She decides to set aside her feelings for Debbie because she has a higher goal to reach in a year’s time. She learns to practice self-denial over self-gratification.

During evenings after her work, she begins doing another job. She applies as all around part timer; bartender, a DJ, a singer in OneBar. This remains a secret to everyone. Abby really had to keep up for the two jobs and she has no choice but to continue until she needs to. Lucky for her the bar owner is very kind and compassionate. Michael, understands Abby’s need of part time work. She managed to juggle her time for almost five months.

Michael was old and about to retire. He’s looking for someone to pass on the business. Since he can’t give the bar to anyone; he asks Abby if she can help look for a buyer. Abby studied the whole situation and calculates her finances because she wants to buy the OneBar from Michael.

She made an agreement with him that if she buys half of OneBar not the whole Pub. The half will stay with Michael and if any moment he plans to leave or fly abroad, she will manage Michael’s portion and give him back his monthly earnings afterwards. So, it will still be a win-win situation, until she’ll find a way to buy the entire property herself. To her surprise,

Micheal willingly agrees to her proposal. He said, I am on my retiring age and I find Abby as a worthy kid. So the two seal the deal and she became Michael’s co-owner.

It was October, after two months of meeting Pete, Debbie receive a message from him saying, he wants to come over to her place because he wants to know her better. Debbie is worried and thought if she not befriended Pete, her plans of buying the farm may get spoil and she can’t afford to lose the farm.

Debbie’s  intention is to let Abby handle the farm together with her and start living a life together. It will happen only in a matter of time, as she was challenging Abby’s leadership and sincerity. Debbie knows that she loves Abby. Within five months of being and working with her, she felt the spark again. Her cold heart melts by the way Abby’s treating her. She felt the later likes her from a distance.

Debbie is now under pressure. She doesn’t want to entertain another man but she has no choice but to have to. Besides she is testing herself too if she loves Abby or if she can find another love again in any man she come across with. Maybe it’s about time to look for true love. Hesitantly, she entertained Pete’s intention. They began dating for a month.  The whole office knows that there is a new suitor for Debbie. This hasn’t escape Abby’s attention. But instead of being jealous, she accepts the challenge of being hurt. She didn’t mind the gossip about Debbie and Pete.

In Debbie’s mind, she has a timeframe. In the next three months, she will buy the whole farm from Pete. But she was so afraid if something may go wrong between him and Pete, she needs to secure the deal. So, Debbie was force to pay in full the amount of the farm. Pete got surprise as Debbie seals the property deal. He was puzzle on the rush Debbie does.

‘Pete now that the farm is mine. Let us keep this in full confidentiality.’ Since Pete likes Debbie, he gave Debbie three months grace to pay him off, as he’s still in-charge of the farm maintenance until it will be fully turn over to Debbie.

“I would like to thank you Pete for your understanding. I don’t want to play up with you; if you are trying to court me do so. But if I find that I really have no feelings for you. I will ask you to stop courting me.” Will it make sense to you? Pete said yes to their agreement.

Both Debbie and Abby are committed to their plans and goals and they rarely talk to each other for two consecutive months. Even though they need to meet for office works, they both suppress their feelings for each other.

October 25, its Jennifer’s birthday. There is a party for the little girl and the office is invited. Abby didn’t come because she was distancing herself with Debbie. She arranges a gift for Jenny via courier.  She intends to let the people know during the party that Jenny was special to her.

She sent in a huge Teddy Bear and she hires two musicians from the club to sing two songs plus one original composition from her. There was a PowerPoint presentation with photo collections of Jenny and her mom. It was from anonymous sender so people will not recognize the giver. Debbie and Jenny know from whom the gifts come from.

Morning during breakfast, Jennifer is sad. ‘Mommy, I am missing Abby. Why is she not there in my birthday? Does she not love me anymore? Jenny starts crying. The only responses Debbie gave are “she loves you dearly, she told me to send her regards to you and she’s busy because of work.” Then Debbie embraces Jenny.

Same that morning, Abby is bother for not showing up to Jenny last night. So, when she find some time, she sneak her lunch and went straight to Debbie’s house and talk with Jenny.

“I am very sorry my lovely Jenny. I wasn’t there for you last night. But did you like my birthday gifts?”

Jenny embraces Abby, ‘yes mom Abby, I love them.’ Abby brought a Ukelele for her. They open it and she began singing and playing the instrument. She teaches Jenny some musical chords. ‘I will teach you more of these. I promise.’

Abby went ahead because she doesn’t want Debbie to find out that she is with Jenny. Later on at home, Jenny happily told her mom that Abby came this afternoon and gave her Ukelele. ‘Mom; mom Abby has promise to teach more of this (pointing happily to her Ukelele).’ Debbie hugs Jenny with teary eyes.
