42. A New Life 2

A YEAR AND FOUR MONTHS AGO.

I had just celebrated my 18th birthday. I watched my mother's teary face as I departed to the unknown. Every part of me was breaking and I couldn't watch. I had to go.

She was shattered and broken. My father was enough disappointment for us. I walked slowly with my heart beating in my chest, at the thought of my mother having another traumatizing experience.

I was sure I was far from view and turned back to look one last time. I wasn't sure when I was going to return. Suddenly, I felt her hand clutch my dress.

"Mama! I have to go." I told mom. The pain was evident on my face and I hoped she could read my pain and not feel that I wanted to run away. I'm certainly not dad! I had a purpose- one which I aimed to achieve.

"Sweetheart! You don't have to go that far. Please!" She begged. It was becoming too much for me. I didn't know if I could keep up with my will. I just couldn't bear her unceasing pleas.
